A recent example: "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk/Pharrell - #2 for 5 weeks on the Hot 100 (kept out of #1 by "Blurred Lines") That's a very good example. That song was about as hot as any song has been in a long time, and it stalled at 2 everywhere you turned. Hot 100, Dees, AT...it just couldn't get that one week before "Blurred Lines" began its monster run.

1968 was an interesting year for singles making big moves to #2 but blocked from the top of the chart.
Chain Of Fools ARETHA FRANKLIN moved 6 - 2. Judy In Disguise & Green Tambourine
Valley Of The Dolls DIONNE WARWICK moved 5 - 2. Love Is Blue & The Dock Of The Bay(mentioned earlier)
Young Girl THE UNION GAP w/ GARY PUCKETT moved 7 - 2. The Dock Of The Bay & Honey
MacArthur Park RICHARD HARRIS moved 5 - 2. This Guy's In Love With You
The Horse CLIFF NOBLES AND CO moved 15 - 2.(Mentioned earlier) This Guy's In Love With You & Grazing In The Grass
Classical Gas MASON WILLIAMS moved 8 - 2. It moved past the previous week's top 7 songs. But, Hello, I Love You moved 9 - 1. (You thought Shattered Dreams had it bad.)

The Horse CLIFF NOBLES AND CO moved 15 - 2.(Mentioned earlier) This Guy's In Love With You & Grazing In The Grass Here's an oddity about "The Horse". Although billed as Cliff Nobles And Co., Cliff is nowhere to be found on the record. "The Horse" was supposed to the "B" side, an instrumental version of the intended "A" side "Love Is All Right" which featured Cliff's vocals. It flopped, but the instrumental side galloped up to #2 Love Is All Right - Cliff Nobles & Co.PS: The horn section on the song became part of a group that had a #1 hit in the 70s...MFSB - TSOP
