Hi everyone,
Those of you in the New York City and surrounding areas know that WPLJ did not treat AT 40 very well the least 2 years it aired. It was at a terrible time slot (Sundays at 6 am), and they deleted many songs each week. Sadly, I stopped listening regularly after about 1993. Here is my question. When did AT 40 air the Top 100 of 1993? I assume it was an 8 hour show. Did they air it on January 2, 1994? What time did it start?
thanks!

Just so you know, it wasn't only WPLJ that deleted songs from AT 40 towards the end. I believe the way AT 40 produced the show, they made certain (mostly rap) songs optional. Y-100 in Miami also was guilty of airing the chopped up version.

In his book,"American Top 40-The Countdown Of The Century",Rob Durkee mentioned that WPLJ purposely deleted the rap songs because they didn't play that particular music.
