Why would the extras be different from last airing? It's now confirmed that one of the extras is replaced, "Open Your Heart" replaces "Change Of Heart". As jmack19 explained, it's the only week that "Open Your Heart" could be used as an extra. Hour #1: "Open Your Heart" - Madonna Hour #2: "Keep Your Hands To Yourself" - Georgia Satellites Hour #3: "Touch Me (I Want Your Body)" - Samantha Fox Hour #4: "Stay The Night"- Benjamin Orr They had a change of heart regarding "Change of Heart". And the extras for Hours 3 and 2 resemble a dialogue.

Prediction for next show:
12/11/82
It's either this one or 12/15/84 but the 1984 show shouldn't be counted out given 1984 has the longest drought right now, two and a half months. 1984 could be featured in either of the last two weeks of the year but 1982 is a no-go for the last week of 2019 (12/26/87 would probably take that place if 1984 is featured this week). Since 1982 has the second longest drought, I'm sticking with 1982.

Why would the extras be different from last airing? Last year, Premiere began replacing an extra or two on shows from time to time, for something other than a tribute. For example, on the August 16, 1986 show, a top 10 hit, "All Cried Out" was replaced by "Throwing It All Away". "Throwing It All Away" was one week away from the countdown and this was the only available week it could be used as an extra. "Open Your Heart" is one week away from the countdown and this is the only available week it could be used as an extra. It does not mean that it will happen, but there is a possibility. I'm curious why "this is the only available week it could be used as an extra". I thought I had heard extras that were on the Hot 100 and 2 or 3 weeks away from the top 40 used? Thanks, Art

In any case, 1982 and 1984 seem like easily the most logical candidates for the next two weeks, and 1987 makes the most sense if there is a third regular show left.

By "last week" I mean the last regular weekend of the year, December 21-22. My tentative prediction is 12/11/82 for December 14 and 12/22/84 for December 21 however if 12/15/84 is chosen for December 14 then 12/26/87 is most likely scheduled for December 21. The year-end show should air on December 28 and January 4.

Well, it looks like we'll have to wait until 2020 for a 1982 show. www.facebook.com/groups/1554338224832557/permalink/2415992495333788/The week of 12/21 will likely be 1987 - either 12/19 or 12/26, as it's been at least six years since both shows last aired. And it still looks like 1985 is going to be the year-end show. I could be wrong, though.

Other than those 1987 shows, the only other plausible candidates for the last regular show of the year are 12/19/81 or 12/17/83; all those years were featured in November, but 1987 was the earliest. 1985 hasn’t been the year end show at all since 2010, longer than any other 80s year, so it’s the most logical choice, though if it isn’t we could also get 12/21/85 (as we’ve had 1985 every month but one from May to November.)

Listening to the 1981 show from a couple weeks ago, I was surprised by the story of Chilliwack opening for themselves pretending to be a different band. I don't know if anyone mentioned to Casey that Devo did the same thing.

It's looking like the last 1982 'A' show will end up being 10/30/82. More than likely it will now be either 12/19/87, 12/26/87 or 12/21/85--maybe 1987 with a 1982 'B' show?

It airing the weekend before Christmas I would think it would be a standalone with a Christmas themed alternate option for those stations playing only Holiday music? The show that hasn't aired in the longest time is 12/26/87 so that would be my guess.
Also, is there a chance "Do They Know It's Christmas" might be an optional extra on the 1984 show? It seems appropriate given the season.

Yeah you're right--no non-Christmas 'B' shows until the weekend of the 28th, which should be part 1 of the year-end special. The 'B' next week will be another Christmas countdown.

Premiere optional extras for 12/15/84 in 2012:
"Solid" Ashford & Simpson "The Heat Is On" Glenn Frey "Method Of Modern Love" Hall & Oates "I Would Die 4 U" Prince
I'll go with:
