April 17, 1982 next week as per KOLA. Someday Premiere will actually air shows like 4/2/83 and 5/1/82 again... someday... The irregular consideration of the AT40-shows can already be seen in the Flashback series. Although several AT40-shows weren´t aired, some (6/8/85 and 5/9/87) were aired twice during this short series.

I'm usually not a great fan of Long Distance Dedications, but I actually enjoyed both of them in the 4/17/82 show. Any dedication letter which requests a Jimmy Buffett song is worth hearing. And in the "Come Together" dedication, Melanie in West Woodstock, VT may be the only person ever who's publicly said she enjoyed getting her braces tightened; even people who don't mind wearing braces say the tightening is painful or at least unpleasant. (Personally I was able to avoid braces altogether when I was a teenager after an overzealous dental hygienist urged them, I objected, and my parents decided my teeth were in line enough that they weren't really needed and so took my side.) I thought the second one was awful. Hundreds of letters come in each week, and they pick one where a girl wants to request a song.... for her teeth? I feel like they chose it very tongue in cheek.

I thought the second one was awful. Hundreds of letters come in each week, and they pick one where a girl wants to request a song.... for her teeth? I feel like they chose it very tongue in cheek. I didn’t hear that second LDD about the teeth. Then again, t was a decision made 37 years ago, so I’ll personally leave it to the past. As hokey as that story sounds, though, I think of it this way: Casey must have decided a segment of his listeners — including those who had just started to wear braces — could identify with her. Same reason many of the letters were written — yes, including the infamous “dead dog dedication.” So I’ll cut that letter a break. Hey, and it’s a great reason to get another Beatles song played. I guess that, plus “The Beatles Movie Medley” and Elton John’s “Empty Garden” made for an enjoyable listen for fans of the Fab Four. And even better ... Lulu’s “To Sir With Love” completes the actual 1960s sound and complements Paul Davis’s look back at the revolutionary decade with “‘65 Love Affair.” Brian

To be fair, I think most offerings from 1988 seem to get "A" status, but "B" status extremely rarely. Plus, this will be the fourth straight year that an April 1988 show will have aired, and all of the available April 1988 shows will now be exhausted. Despite that April 6, 1985 is a "B" option this current weekend, I have a feeling that April 27, 1985 will likely be be aired on the last weekend of April, likely in honor of Casey's 87th birthday. Well after airing 4/4/87 as an 'A' show for the second time in three years, you never say never, but I'd be surprised if they went with 4/27/85 again after airing last in 2017 (and before that in 2013). I'm thinking 5/18/85 is more likely to be the next 1985 'A' show -- it hasn't aired as an 'A' show since the Ed McMann days. 5/11/85 hasn't been played as an 'A' since 2011, but was played as a 'B' last year. 5/4/85 is also repeatable, since it's now been three years since its last airing.

Thanks for the info. Too bad I missed the AT40's with Dick Clark and Gary Owens. Maybe one day they will be repeated. As for the Dave Roberts show, I now suspect someone aired it as a tribute to him as it was not a broadcast put together by Premiere.

Regarding the LDD from the girl that had braces,I was forced to wear them from 1970-1972-Not a pleasant experience!

I'm guessing they're not going to use songs from late 1988/early 1989 as extras anymore.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 4/26/80 2nd Guess - 4/26/86
Does the 1980 drought end next week? I actually hope they drag it out one more week and play 5/3/80. 4/26/86 hasn't been played at all since 2013 and would also be a strong candidate. 1985 is due for a spin as well, but I'm guessing it waits until May.

My guess is, since next Saturday is the anniversary of Casey Kasem's birth, I have a strong feeling April 27, 1985 - Casey's birthday episode, last aired in 2013 - may likely be on tap for the final weekend of April. I would prefer a May 1985 show as much as the next guy, but I think it's appropriate to honor Casey on what would have been his 87th birthday with a 1980s episode that aired on Casey's birthday, and the April 27, 1985 show is the appropriate one to air.

And 4/27/85 has now been aired three times as an 'A' over the course of the 80's series (2009, 2013, 2017). One more thing to add: by your logic regarding Casey's birthday, Premiere could've played 4/27/74--the only other April 27th show in the original Casey AT40 run--this year, but chose to go with 4/20/74 instead...so it appears that his birthday probably wasn't a factor in scheduling shows. 5/4/85 has been played twice total -- last in 2016, and 2012 before that (both as 'A' shows) 5/11/85 has been played twice total -- in 2011 as an 'A' (they didn't have 'B' shows back then), and last year as a 'B' show 5/18/85 has been played twice, but those two times were in 2007 and 2008 -- the first two years of the series -- it would be understating it to say that this one is due for a repeat Now I could always be wrong on any or all of the above, but my money is on the next 1985 show not happening until May.

I'm predicting next week's show will be 4/26/80-That aired a few months before Casey & Jean got married.
