After hearing Cutting Crew's " I Just Died In Your Arms" on this past weekends 87 show, a funny thought occurred to me. Cutting Crew's "Broadcast" was my very first CD that I got back in 1987 with that long cardboard packaging. A few weeks ago, I bought that same album on vinyl. Oh, have times changed.

I just happened to already have it on at 6, which worked out for me. They just aired a promo that at 10pm they are airing a special, a podcast on the Zodiac killer. A very odd choice for a Variety Hits station. But it also could be one of those things where one station in every iHeart cluster has to air a special But, likely just a one week shift for AT40. And honestly, in today's world, i give them props for starting the show at 6 so it can still air in full! Now THERE'S some nice calming late evening programming! Did you just hear a noise? Someone's in the house! It was more than a little jarring to hear Casey's cheerful sign off and upbeat 1987/1988 closing theme and then to hear this dark, ominous voice come on and start talking about the Zodiac killer rather than the usual upbeat Jack FM music.

I tuned in briefly last night, and yeah, that was a bit odd. I tuned out shortly afterwards.

Actor & singer Donnie Wahlberg presently hosts a show on the HLN channel which profiles well known serial killers such as John Wayne Gacy & Charles Manson-I'm sure the Zodiac killer will receive equal time.

The name of the show that Donnie Wahlberg hosts on the HLN channel is called "Very Scary People".

I'm so glad this show was made, 'cause we haven't already heard / read enough about these people.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 4/19/80 2nd Guess - 4/20/85
1985 surprisingly hasn't been played as an A show since early February, but it's getting the B show slot this week. 1980 has an even longer drought...

KOLA has April 23, 1988 for next week. Since we just got 1988 a few weeks ago, maybe it’s a B to a 1980 or (less likely) 1981 A?

Odd that in answering a listener question in the '82 show Casey made it sound like Betty Grable was still alive. She had died nine years earlier, in 1973. Her former husband (with whom she shared credit on one of the three then-longest-reigning number one singles), bandleader Harry James, would die the following year, 1983.

Well, that was a surprise. Premiere seems to be hitting 1988 hard this year, with A's from February, March, and April 1988--something that's never happened before. Meanwhile, for 1980, "and the drought goes on"...to paraphrase a song from this time that year. Same for 1985 though we get that as a B this week.
4/23/88 was last played in 2010 with these optional extras:
Hour #1: "Circle In The Sand" - Belinda Carlisle Hour #2: "We All Sleep Alone" - Cher Hour #3: "The Flame" - Cheap Trick Hour #4: "Pour Some Sugar On Me" - Def Leppard
It's of course possible that they could be changed, maybe to hits from Shadoe-era countdowns we don't currently hear.
4/18/81 was also a B last year so these will probably be reused:
Hour #1: "Since I Don't Have You" Don McLean Hour #2: "Super Trouper" ABBA Hour #3: "A Woman Needs Love" Ray Parker Jr. & Raydio Hour #4: "Time" The Alan Parsons Project
