I still don't know why they could have used the 1983 show as an A, and the 1987 show as a B, or even another show that ran years ago before these shows as an option. Maybe they should look at the standalone shows from that timeframe and make it an A/B show as an exception once in a while rather than the rule. Probably because 1983 was played more recently than 1987.

The Breakfast Club was a group founded by a guy named Stephen Bray who collaborated with Madonna when it came to writing hit songs.

Why on earth would you repeat 4/4/87 just two years after it last aired? They could've easily gone with 3/28/87, followed by 4/2/83, followed by 4/14/84. Then you'd have three shows who's last airing was between 2009 and 2013. The scheduling the last few weeks has just been silly.

I wonder what KLNC will do if premiere airs a stand-alone for 70's and 80's on one of these upcoming weekends ? Will they pull a Magic 98 and repeat the previous week's 80's broadcasts when or if there is no B show that week? Asia once said back in 82 -"Only Time Will Tell".

Speaking of silly, what is up with these stations (like KLNC) only airing 3 hour versions of AT40? That's like a TV station deciding to cut off the first 15 minutes of an hour show. I mean, really, you can't give up one more hour on a weekend to air the whole show?

I often wonder that about 70s stations not playing the first hour of the 1978-79 four hour shows, but at least they have the excuse that most of that decade's AT40s were three hours and it's not always easy to preempt or move things around on occasion to allow for the fourth hour. But all the 80s AT40s were four hours, which they presumably knew when they signed up for it. And I doubt that they are so tightly programmed with other stuff that they're contracted to air that they can't regularly spare one extra hour somewhere.

I believe that KLNC is airing two shows in three time slots. Saturday will be EITHER a 70's OR 80's "B" show. Sunday will be the same 80's "A" show aired twice - in the morning and again at night,

That's like a TV station deciding to cut off the first 15 minutes of an hour show. I mean, really, you can't give up one more hour on a weekend to air the whole show? This reminds me of the following procedure: For the first few months of the show´s (note: AT 40 - Flashbacks) run, the show was four hours long and played an entire AT40 show. However, Premiere Radio Networks decided that it would be easier to sell the show if the show were only 3 hours in length. Also, some radio stations did not like some of the songs that were played during the 1st hour of the show, since those songs are remembered by relatively few people. Thus, the show was reduced to three hours in length. The Flashback became the final three hours of an AT40 show, and each Flashback usually began around number 30 (see www.at40fan.info/at40/flashback.html for details).
But I have to add: I like it if a station plays the whole (!) show.
