"Billie Jean" was the # 1 song on 3/5/83-The video for "Billie Jean" was played quite a bit on MTV during that time-Interesting to note that the network previously didn't air videos from African-American artists until Michael Jackson came along-Jackson breaking the color barrier on MTV invited comparisons to Jackie Robinson becoming the first Negro player in major league baseball in 1947. The "official" story, from the book VJ: The Unplugged Adventures of MTV's First Wave, is that CBS Records, as it was known at the time, not only threatened to pull all of its artists' videos from the channel if they didn't show "Billie Jean," but actually did pull them for a couple of days. The lingering effect of this event on the entire music industry for the rest of the 80s can't be overstated.

Next week's show - March 14, 1981, according to KOLA FM!
I have a feeling that the "B" show is going to be something from before 1986.

3/14/81 was aired only once (2008), so it´s probably the "A":
And the extras back in 2008 were:
Smokey Robinson - Being With You AC/DC - Back In Black John Lennon - (Just Like) Starting Over 38 Special - Hold On Loosely

If it's before 1986, 3/16/85 might be a good guess? Probably wouldn't be 1983 since they usually only pair 1983 (and earlier) B's with a late 80's year.

By the way: For all listeners outside the USA (and I think in Hawaii and parts of Arizona, too):
US clocks "spring forward" on Sunday 3/10, but European clocks "don´t go forward" until Sunday 3/31. So, between these two dates listeners outside the USA should note that all shows will start "one hour earlier".

Love listening to the 40 on 89.9 The Wave. In addition to playing Premier extras they throw in a Canadian extra each hour. I've heard Chiliwack and Red Rider so far.

I was just looking over a post in a different thread (Sirius XM 80s countdown) and I noticed talk of radio stations removing Michael Jackson songs from their playlist due to the "Leaving Neverland" documentary. There is the question that if stations are, what happens to these countdowns? Michael is a huge part of many of the 80s countdowns.. (except 1986) If the trend of removing his songs from radio continues, do they somehow remove his songs from the countdowns? Or could this be the beginning of the end for this series? It's noteworthy he happens to be #1 in this weekend's show.

Imo, they should just leave the guy alone. Let him Rest In Peace. But what's happening with the stations and his music is deeply concerning. More stations could drop the show, which I hope doesn't happen, but could.

WGHN started the show early due to a Michigan State basketball game at 6:30 PM (they're currently on The Woman In Me at #33).

Anything going forward re: Michael Jackson's songs on playlists won't affect stations' attitudes toward carrying classic AT40s, imo. If anything, we may see some stations omit his songs and the intro to his songs assuming they have the ability to edit or skip.

Lol Casey explaining the Jamaican slang in “Pass The Dutchie” made me laugh really hard for some reason. I just about died when Casey quoted one of the lines “music make me wind up me waist” lmao.
