Several ironies in this week's 1-28-84 show Casey mentioned, and as Hervard pointed out in his chart critique, artists that charted with two different versions with the same song came just before Real Life's "Send Me An Angel". They remixed and re-released that song in the Summer of 1989. Speaking of Summer of 1989, I felt that Stevie Nicks' "Rooms On Fire" did sound kind of similar to "Nightbird"
Our friend "Sister Mary Elephant" got mentioned in Top 40 hits with Girl's names just right before the 80's version of "Sister Mary Elephant" in "The Curly Shuffle" at #17. I like the Three Stooges don't get me wrong, just not the song.
Casey mentioned that Mark Dinning's #1 hit from 1960 in "Teen Angel" was written as a joke, whereas "Think Of Laura" by Christopher Cross was written about his then-girlfriend's roommate Laura Carter, a college Lacrosse player, who was killed by a stray bullet at Denison University in 1982.

I think I'll go with those extras as well. I don't even remember what the original extras were in 2008. Pat Benatar - Heartbreaker Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall Thelma Houston - Don´t Leave Me This Way Abba - Dancing QueenSo THAT'S why I didn't hear those songs that week. I thought that Sunny 101.5, on which I caught the show, had edited them out and I thought it odd that they did not play the two boldfaced song, which were regularly played on AC/oldies stations, yet the song that stayed in the broadcast, "Don't Give Up On Us", is not heard very often. But it was Premiere's doing and Sunny did not play the extras (which still begs the question why they still went with the David Soul song).

It looks like were getting more than 1-28-84 this week. Mother Nature is bringing us in Midwest bitter cold air as a classic presentation reminiscent of January 1984-one of the coldest winters that I can remember. I do remember the weekend before being brutally cold - especially Saturday, when the high did not get above zero and the low was -22. Even worse was Christmastime, when the temps on Christmas Eve and Christmas day were -11/-18 and -3/-15, respectively. Of course that winter did have a decent reprieve in February, with several days reaching the mid-sixties. We paid for it in March, though, with nothing above 54 degrees (and only three days in the fifties), and below normal temps, for the most part. Not sure what the weather was like the weekend of this show, however (though I don't know why, as that was my birthday weekend). I'm pretty sure that it wasn't subzero, though.

All of this weather talk! Not to gloat, but I went to a car show yesterday--in shorts! Absolutely perfect weather, with more of the same forecast for the week ahead! This is why we live here...

Do we have confirmation yet as to what the "B" show will be next weekend?

We've had a lot of rain this weekend, very unusual for winter, but still shorts weather in South Florida. I sometimes listen to Classic AT 40 on stations in NY, Canada, and Wisconsin (don't have a local affiliate here). Just hearing the weather forecasts in winter makes me shudder.

A stray bullet? I remember talking with other kids at school about that song back then but I guess someone hid the full story from us.

Really liked this week's 1984 countdown. Pop music was hitting that sweet spot of the decade when country crossovers and 70s AM Gold had pretty much been fazed out, new wave was at its peak, and many of the biggest stars of the decade were putting out their best stuff. This week's 40 was pretty strong start to finish with the exception of Barry Manilow, Christopher Cross, and Kool & The Gang (I love Kool's dance tunes, Joanna is just too slow and sappy imo). I just love the sound of '84

Do we have confirmation yet as to what the "B" show will be next weekend? Yes, I saw on FB that the 'B' is from '86. Would assume 2/1/86.

Back in 2014, the optional extras for 2/1/86 were:
"The Super Bowl Shuffle" Chicago Bears Shufflin' Crew "This Could Be The Night" Loverboy "What You Need" INXS "R.O.C.K. In The U.S.A." John Cougar Mellencamp
Despite it being Super Bowl week, I can see the "The Super Bowl Shuffle" being replaced. It could be a song like "Nikita" or "Manic Monday", but I'll go with "Stages" by ZZ Top.

Extra predictions (with not really that many to pick from):
* “Heartbreaker” — Pat Benatar. * “Him” — Rupert Holmes. * “Too Hot” — Kool & the Gang. * “99” — Toto.
As they say on “Sesame Street,” “Brought to you today by the letter H and the number 99.”

On the show from 1/28/84,Casey ran down the list of songs that had triple titles-He left out one "More More More" by Andrea True Connection-Did he make that correction on a subsequent episode?
