Prediction for next week's show: 1st Guess - 1/19/85 2nd Guess - 1/17/87 So on to 2019 we go, and the usual conundrum of trying to figure out which January shows Premiere will offer in these first couple weeks. The years that had their last show the earliest in 2018 were 1984, '81, and '86. Which means 1985, '82, and '87 would appear to be the strongest candidates for the coming weeks (perhaps along with 1980). 1/19/85 was last played as an 'A' show in 2013, and as a 'B' in 2016, so it gets the nod... Why not 1/10/1981? 1/10/81 would work, last played in 2013, but I think this is about when the last shows from the year to year periods were aired: 1984 into 1985, 1981-82, and 1986-87. A January 1981 show would come just a little over a month after one from December 1980, and (not that this should matter) both are from what isn't a particularly beloved period of music, either on this board or probably from most radio programmers, and the other years mentioned have more songs that have evidently held up with listeners. That said, 1980-81 shouldn't be ignored (stations that want to can of course play B's from later in the decade) but I think a better time to revisit that would be in February: 2/14 and 2/28/81 haven't been played in even longer (2009-10).

I'm perfectly cool with revisiting 1981 sometime around May.

My thoughts exactly--1/10/81 would contain a relatively high number of songs in common with 12/6/80, which was played just a month ago (and ranks among the least popular stretches in the AT40 80's series). Add to that, 10/25/80 was played 5 weeks prior to that--guessing that they wouldn't play that many late '80/early '81 shows within a 2-1/2 month period (though I could always be wrong). The way 2018 finished up combined with the lack of February and March 1981 shows played over the last several years makes me think they will wait until at least February before playing the first '81 show of the year.

My thinking is that the odds are good we hear 1985 and '87 before the end of January, but I would guess the other show to be 1982. A logical choice for the weekend of January 26th would be 1/30/82 - that show hasn't been played since 2013 and would be a good one to play again this year. If 1985 doesn't happen in January, we may finally get to hear 2/2/85, which was last played in the Ed McMann days.

WTOJ currently airing 1986 top 100 Looks like Ken might be playing all 8 hours today....similar to the schedule for the 1972 & 1978 Year Enders only on WTOJ Exactly. I have to choose an 80's year end countdown to run next weekend now. Again, it will start at 11 AM on Saturday. Any suggestions for which year? Just wondering if you've chosen a show yet. Also, I hope you're feeling better!

WWIS ended before 5 PM central. I guess they can't find any more sponsors to take 'em to the top of the hour. It's 3:50 local time at WWIS and they are about to start hour 4 of the '86 year ender. They will end before 5 p.m. central today, barring any malfunction. Happy New Year, same as the old year.

It's because they read the Death Notices in the last hour of the Freddie Bell Show now instead of Casey's last hour.

1/19/85 was a B in 2016, and a standalone in 2008 and 2013. Nowadays, of course, everything from 1983-86 is a standalone, unless something changed with the new year.
