Maybe lasvegaskid thought to himself "I Couldn't Say No" to the urge of the info of KOLA's posting. He was probably watching a rerun of "Jeopardy" and posted it just before he heard something shatter out of the blue which made him to believe that there is "A Stranger In My House." ^^ Given that, he visited Der Kommissar with a Photograph of the crime scene. They were now Looking For A Stranger who committed the crime. Once they found him, Der Kommissar said, "I need a vacation, I'm going to Rio." There are some people who are reading these posts and are saying to themselves, "Enough already! This is Overkill!"

Even Now, after some Time had passed, I Couldn't Say No. I'm gonna give it to you Straight From The Heart, because I didn't want to wait until the Mornin'. All the complaining about stations' Time is just Overkill. I won't need a Photograph of these fun posts, because in this thread there's Always Something There To Remind Me.
Maybe next week I'll Try Again - but for now I need to Beat It. I hope this post doesn't put my membership in Jeopardy, and that tomorrow I can say I'm Still Standing instead of going Separate Ways.
As for the countdowns, Don't Let It End.

The 5/21/1983 AT40: The 80's episode will make 1983 the second year to be complete of all available to air by Premiere AT40: The 80's episodes, the other was 1988.
And my 5/21/1983 AT40: The 80's Optional Extra predictions: 1) "The Woman in You" - Bee Geees 2) "Our House" - Madness 3) "White Wedding" - Billy Idol 4) "Theme From Cheers - Where Everybody Knows Your Name" - Gary Portnoy (Curveball pick of a song that never made the Top 40 but peaked at #83 that 5/21/1983 week - Has Premiere ever played this during a past March-May 1983 AT40: The 80's episode?)

When it comes to commercial breaks, why are some breaks longer than others?

Different stations program different lengths of commercials based on how many are sold. Obviously the more that are sold the longer the break will be. Most stations have a maximum for how long a single commercial stopset that will last.

By comparison, Rick Dees has had his flashback shows airing since 2008 and I don't think any years have been exhausted yet, but 1986 would be the closest.

Extra picks:
Well, since someone picked Gary Portnoy's "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" as an extra, I'll throw in another optional extra curveball (among two):
* "Without Us" - Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams. (I have no idea if it was on the charts this week in '83, or when or even if it ever charted, but hey ... even though it was doggy-paddling in the ratings as it wrapped its first season on NBC, "Family Ties" was on its way to becoming a legend. Hey, it already made Michael J. Fox a household name.)
The other curveball:
* "The Closer You Get - Alabama. Their fourth (of five) top 40 hits for the Fort Payne, Ala. guys that was country music's superband of the 1980s and ever since, really. They're on tour this summer and will be making a stop at the Mississippi Valley Fair in Davenport in late July ... don't miss it!
And how about a third curveball ...
* "When I'm With You" - Sheriff. The first go-round for a song that was re-released in late 1988 and this time was bound for No. 1.
The only expected extra:
* "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" - The Eurythmics.

Brian "Without Us" by Johnny Mathis and Denise Williams didn't make the Bilboard Hot 100 at all. It wasn't even released as a single to my knowledge.

Stating the obvious here, but the 5/16/1981 countdown had a bunch of country crossovers...I count at least seven. I happened to be working at two different radio stations starting in late April 1981. I was in college and working at the college station which was Top 40, but then got a summer job working at a country station, and still doing some shifts at the college station through the summer, so I was getting a double dose of some of these country hits and grew to love some of the country songs from that summer. Great one from T.G. Sheppard, "I Loved 'Em Everyone"...always brings back some great memories of that summer when I hear some of these tunes.

May 16,1981 is also historic in country music history as it was the first appearance on the Billboard country chart for George Strait.

1989 has often been cited for having incredibly unusual chart moves...but how about "Somebody's Knockin' " in this week's countdown? Falls from 13 to 29, then this week is back UP one to 28! (Then the next week, it's gone...)
