Next week's show is, as anticipated, from 12/17/1983 Awesome! My predictions for the rest of the year are once again correct. Hopefully, we'll hear 12/20/80 two weekends from now, with the LDD about how "Tragedy" by the Bee Gees cured the little girl of her fear of lightning. Then, the weeks after that could be interesting. Someone mentioned how there are five weekends in January. It would really make sense for them to do the year-ender over the first two weekends, due to the situation of there usually being a guest host the first weekend in January. That way, they could get on the never-before aired 12/28/85 show.

This morning KOLA 99.9 out of San Bernardino/Riverside/Redlands, California, cut-off the American Top 40 jingle along with Casey Kasem's entire intro to #2, "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by Wham! I think it was something particular for how you were listening. I got the jingle and the intro on KOLA this morning, right after an Albertson's ad. (The intro after the jingle was "I'm Casey Kasem. After 3 weeks at #1, the finger-popping hit by Wham! drops to #2. Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.")

An announcement made by the same woman who always does it was "This is KOLA 99.9, KOLA, San Bernardino, Riverside" right after that Albertson's ad, then they went right into "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" on my offline physical electronic terrestrial radio!

Interesting! I've always assumed that on-line streams are taken from the on-air studio feed. Could it be that--at least in some instances--it is the other way around? Would be interested to hear from one of the on-air personalities here how this is possible. On a related note, some station's streams cover on-air local commercials, weather forecasts, etc. with public service announcements... while other stations just stream everything that is broadcast over the air (I prefer just a straight stream of the over-the-air broadcast--that is what I would do if I ran a radio station.)

I just checked my KOLA recording from their online stream and the jingle out of the break is there as is the link doubroda typed above. Sounds like the TOTH legal ID played on FM but didn't on the internet stream. No idea why the legal ID would play though as that was covered at the end of the show, where the sung one was used to go into live programs.

What I think would be pretty cool would be for the first 80's show back in 2016 to be a 1980 show. I say this because on the 70's show next weekend they are having a December 1979 show, this should be the last one for the year. Then the two year end shows. Then on the 80's show we would get the next show in line with the 1980 show. Just a thought.

The earliest 1980 show that can be aired is the 1/19/1980 show, which originally aired in 2010 so it's a good possibility that it'll be repeated in 2016. ETA: It aired as a B show this year, so it's likely that it won't air in 2016.

Is anyone else sick of those Progressive ads? I know I am. Thankfully, the most annoying one (IMO, that is) doesn't seem to be run anymore. It was the one where she was speaking to someone over the phone and was either having connection issues or had trouble understanding her, because she had to keep repeating what she just said. When she said, "BU-U-UCKS!!", there was a pause and she said, "They hung up on me!" Gee, I wonder why?

Anyone else think the Sesame Street song was a randomly odd thing to point out for the Pointer Sisters extra? Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, just...particularly unexpected, I guess. BTW, I've been neglecting to post this week's issue of Billboard... December 8, 1984 (A Google link for a change; believe it or not, 12/8/84 is one of the few issues NOT currently linked on American Radio History.) 1984 Hot 100s

Did anyone notice they "backwards scrambled edit" on Stranger In Town by Toto on this week's 80's show? That was to replace b**ch.

Why yes, we DID just hear about live recordings hitting #1 two weeks ago!
But, methinks that Casey missed one here - in this week's show, he said 5 such #1s, but two weeks ago for 11/28/87 he said "Mony Mony" was the 8th. Now, that and "At This Moment" both come after 1984...so, what's the other missing? Wondering if it's "Peppermint Twist".
