Glad to hear all the 80s #1s from WTOJ just not sure why they cut off songs to do their station oldies in the middle of it 'like cutting into Betty Davis Eyes' just to play a part of a Rod Stewart song not even part of the countdown and then cutting it off too for the weather. Bit odd and makes you wonder if your missing songs or not.

Does anyone know if the 1980 show will be played today? Abigail flaked with the 80s "B" show last Sunday.
Thanks, jmack19 for the WRIT tip. I was hoping to catch that show this weekend.

Money for Nothing is a song I have always liked. That said, I never need to hear the unedited version again - there is no need to hear that word. I disagree. In context it would be no different than saying you wouldn't want to hear the full version of Living For The City because of the "get in that cell..." line. I can put up with it, only because of the premise behind it. Mark Knopfler wrote the song "in character"; he's not the song's true narrator. To put it in perspective...it's less powerful/hurtful than, say, Eminem's earlier releases, which frequently used the same slur, and were NOT in any kind of "character". So, it doesn't really bother me here, because I get what he tried to accomplish with the song as a whole. In just about any other case...OH HELL, NO.

Seriously this board needs a full time moderator. Why, when it has several full time deputies.

Wow that LDD was intense. Hope he didn't go through with it. So sad to feel that alone and despondent.
Never knew that stuff about Pat Benatar. I honestly had no idea she was married before. Oh and I love me some Prince. I've been lucky enough to see him in concert and he is some performer.

I haven't found anyone playing it yet. I was noting as many as I could on the other thread, but I only saw 1985 being played. I'm not sure how much of a chance this evening with WEZG Abigail www.streamlicensing.com/play/player.php?sid=3160&stream_id=5773

Here in Canada, some radio stations can't play the unedited version of the song, although some have in protest. It's a shame that Mark Knopfler has had to defend those lyrics. Not that I would ever defend using that word but you make a great point, you'd have to ban a lot of Eminem's music. Knopfler has even said it's about a fictional character working in an appliance store. Not to sound like Donald Trump but we've gotten so sensitive and politically correct. Again, not defending the use of the word, I just think this song has been unfairly targeted by the PC police. Remember Tipper Gore and her insane crusade to ban certain songs 30 years a ago? Her head would explode if she heard some of the songs today.

Seriously this board needs a full time moderator. Why, when it has several full time deputies. Because "don't post illegal streams" gets violated on a near weekly basis and no one does a d**n thing about it. Now either the person who runs it should come by more often and handle it or give that ability to people who do and can enforce the rules.

Loved the AT40 Hall of Fame segment in this 1985 show. Casey was a master of theater of the mind, that should have become a regular feature.

Also, I hate words being hijacked from what they originally meant like...
gay=happy, not homosexual f*g=cigarette or a f*gged out soda, not homosexual queer=strange or odd, not homosexual
homosexual=homosexual heterosexual=heterosexual
