Just heard Casey read off five of Billboard's other #1s. Any other week where he read that many?

Well, this means we get a February 1988 show for five straight years. But since 1988 is from my preferred years for AT40, I will definitely listen to it for sure.
As for the final Saturday in February, I think it will be a 50/50 chance of either 1982 or 1984 for the "A" show.
I think the trend of offering "A" and "B" shows is likely the norms for the 80s shows now. Then again, such choice may be offered if the "A" show is from later in the 80s.

I think we get 2/27/82 almost for sure 2 weeks from now. Not sure if they do the A/B option, but being that they are airing 2/27/88 next week, I just can't see them going backwards in the calendar year to play 2/25/84 the final weekend of February, even though it's not out of the question. Looks like 3/3/84 or 3/17/84 will be a good candidate for a March airing.

An update to the record that prompted a question in this week's countdown:
From what I can tell, there's a new tie for that record at the present time. One of those record-holders, is a man who was currently in the survey, having just notched his third consecutive top ten year with the song that was just leaving that upper tier this week. Of course, I'm talking about the Purple One...Prince. His streak began in 1983, and ended in 1994 with what's also his last Top 10 hit to date, "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World".
The one he shares the record with now, is the woman noted for her ever-increasing frequency of #1 hits during the 1990s. Beginning in 1990, she'd score a new #1 hit every year until 2000, except for 1994, though she certainly managed to have other Top 10 hits that year. In 2001, she managed to send the song "Loverboy" up to #2, and that's where her streak would end. The woman so noted for her voice...Mariah Carey.
Now, this very nearly wasn't a tie. In the Fall of 1995, Prince released "(Eye) Hate U", which peaked at #12. Just two notches higher, and he'd have had his 13th top ten year in a row, and therefore would've had the record all to himself. Mariah, didn't come nearly as close to getting her 13th top ten year in a row.

February 1988 was never played at all until 2011, and now has been featured in each year since. IMHO, this period featured some of Casey's most interesting and entertaining commentary in the service of introducing what was overall some of the decade's least interesting music (though there are still some great songs in there.)

I would still love to hear this week's 'B' show from one of my favorite years, 1980. Is anybody going to play it other than KOLA yesterday (which I missed)?

Now it seems that, with all these "B" shows and people calling the music of 1980 and 1981 music crappy, but that 1982 is part of the sweet spot of stations that program 1980s music ... well, 1982 is getting shafted right now. The last time we heard 1981-1982 was way back on Dec. 5.
Must hate Alabama's "Love in the First Degree," no?

Between the what do you do with savory Johnsonville Italian sausages? & Beth talking about her "Free Facial" from Rite-Aid the ads from this weekends show put some pretty "nasty" thoughts in your head for Valentine's weekend all they needed was a "Fifty Shades Of Grey' ad.

Just heard Casey read off five of Billboard's other #1s. Any other week where he read that many? I don't know; mentioning the #1 on the jazz charts was a rarity, but it's probably not a coincidence that he mentioned Wynton Marsalis in that position in a show which included a story which featured drop-pieces of Wynton's music. And regarding the use of "Radioactive" as an optional extra, Larry mentioned that Imagine Dragons had a same-named hit song "in late 2012", but it was 2013 before ID charted with that particular song; it peaked at #2 on AT40 in August 2013.

I think he read it as the #1 Jazz album on a different week as well, I just don't remember which week that would've been.
