How about these for what I think will be extras:
• "Everywhere" – Fleetwood Mac. • "Hot in the City" – Billy Idol. • "Hot Hot Hot" – Buster Poindexter and His Banshees of Blue. • "I Live For Your Love" – Natalie Cole.

^No country songs Brian? When was the last time that happened? None to report this time, m'friend! There was one country song I chose as a predicted OE for the 1971 countdown, however (and yes, that one did make it just about halfway up AT40). Plus, I did throw in another curveball in 1971 … but it's a song everyone probably knows well. Still, some good songs for 1987 … and thought of a few curveballs that might be well-known enough to possibly be an extra. P.S.: The only song I can think of that was actually on the Hot 100 that got country airplay – at least on WLLR, our heritage country station from the Quad Cities – was maybe "Come On, Let's Go" by Los Lobos, and they were on their way down the chart. Remember, they were a country station that had sorta an eclectic playlist, with a lot of AC and oldies (e.g., CCR, Jim Croce, etc.) mixed in. I recall "Can't We Try" by Dan Hill and Vonda Shepard was played on WLLR during the late summer and early fall 1987, for instance, even though it was NOT a country song; one of the DJs made jokes about Vonda being related to country stars Jean Shepard and T.G. Sheppard; so was Los Lobos' "La Bamba." And unless a few of the current songs by artists like Kenny Rogers or Ronnie Milsap possibly got AC airplay – both " I Prefer the Moonlight" and " Where Do the Nights Go" fit right into the AC sound of the late 1980s – I KNOW and recall distinctly those songs never got any CHR airplay on Power 98.9 or KIIK 104 (the Quad-Cities' two top 40 stations of the era). Hence, nothing this week. Brian

Which year-end countdown will the '80s represent? Please, do tell. Hint: They'll probably know/be allowed to announce in about a week. Brian

I listen to KOKZ through the TuneIn app on my phone. Anyone else noticing that since this weekend its quality sounds like an old transistor radio? Hope it's not permanent, as they are my go-to station for AT40.

^I love how KOKZ does the shows other than the audio fidelity. Even the on-line stream on my PC is a little too compressed for me (sounds like a 64-kbps or maybe a 96-kbps mp3 stream, but definitely not 128-kbps). Not terrible, but definitely noticeable compared to some of the other stations' streams. It would be nice if KOKZ stepped up the bit rate and resolution of their stream.

@matt There was a noticeable drop in quality between Saturday morning and Sunday morning. Painfully bad.

I lost KOKZ on my last Grace internet radio before AT40-70's last weekend.

In reference to WLTF Lite97.5 in WV, they are now all X-mas so therefore, not currently airing the 80's version of AT40, in case anyone was wondering.

Through my iPhone or iPod KOKZ still sounds like an old AM radio. Still coming through in stereo, but has that old transistor radio quality. But I've only ever listened to them through my iPhone or iPod.

Optional extra derby choices for 27 years ago this week:
--I Live for Your Love-Natalie Cole --Tunnel of Love-Bruce Springsteen --What Have I Done to Deserve This-Pet Shop Boys featuring Dusty Springfield --In God's Country-U2 (wishful thinking on my part)
Oddball/tiebreaker: Criticize-Alexander O'Neal (underrated R&B jam)

KOKZ's regular site stream popup (they use LiquidCompass.net) isn't even working. They've definitely got issues...
