I have noticed in this weeks show from 1984, they used the jingle ( the one with just beats and no one saying 'American Top 40') several times.. I last heard this jingle in an early 84 show.. Just wondering why they used this so much in this particular show and it's rare to hear in any other show.. There is an instrumental jingle (very synth-laden -- for the "American Top 40" re-entry) that was used heavily in late 1984, then disappeared for good after the 1984 Top 100).

Yeah it's the one where they mute out the voices (and robot saying 'American').. Hope we are thinking of the same one. Can't miss it on this show.. I thought maybe they used it for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend or something.

Who could've ever predicted we'd still be talking about Madonna 30 years later. Amazing. Like A Virgin really put her on the map.

Apparently WGHN has decided to start the countdown after CBS News rather than right at 6:00 like they've always done.

Anyone think that we might get one more 1987 show snuck in before late December? Rick in South Omaha I'm banking on one more '87 show. As seminolefan said, if it's not a repeat it would be either 11/28/87 a week from this weekend or 12/12/87 the second weekend in December. I would be surprised if we don't get one of those. The other possibility is 12/26/87, which has been aired twice--the most recently in 2011. Matt from west Omaha Has Premiere ever aired the 12/19/1987 show? Rick in South Omaha

Of other December 1987 shows, 12/5 was guest hosted and 12/26 was aired in both 2008 and 2011.

Star 107.9 is playing the 8/28/1982 show right now. Yes, it wasn't clear why they were playing a show from August but what can you do?

Does anybody know what 80s show is scheduled to air next weekend? KOLA hasn't posted anything for the 80s show as of this post, and it did post for the 70s show, November 30, 1974.
I wonder if KOLA has dropped the 80s AT40 rebroadcasts completely?

Question: Of those yet-unaired 1987 shows, do either of those feature "The Power Of Love" by Laura Branigan in full? I seem to remember that it was intact on the 11/28 show, on which it debuted, and I know for a fact they played the full version on 12/5, as I have that part of the countdown on tape. But the other shows with the song in the countdown (as well as 4/09/88, when it was an LDD) featured a heavily edited version of it. Is it that way on the 12/12 show as well?
