^Actually, I'm thinking that the year-ender will be 1980. The fact that they've skimped on 1980 this year is a sign that points to it. 1982, on the other hand, has been run five times this year, with possibly a sixth airing over the next few weeks.
As for the show for the last week of September, I sure hope they pick 1986, so at least we'll have one new show for September.

I wonder why Spandau Ballet didn't have more US hits in the era of Duran Duran, Culture Club, etc. They had 10 top 10 hits in the UK; in the US, what songs by them are widely remembered or recurrently played? "True"--and done. Especially since there were so many other successful acts from the UK making it big in the US:Wham,Eurthmics,Tears For Fears,Culture Club,Human League etc...Spandau would have another minor hit called "Gold" which peaked at number 29 but True is probably the song they are most known for and outside of the UK are known as one hit wonders. I don't think Spandau Ballet around the world is/was seen as one hit wonders. For example, they had 10 Top 40 hits in Australia. In America, I think timing was the main culprit for them. It wasn't that they were British, it was because they were seen as part of the New Romanticism movement. In America, they were at the tail end of the first wave of the first of the 80's British Invasion era in 1983. If they had released "True" say in February of 1983 in the States they might have seen more chart action. By 1984, Spandau was up against it in the U.S. with big time American acts like Prince, Bruce Springsteen, etc. By the end of 1984, the next wave of British artists were starting to "Make It Big" (Wham! Tears For Fears) and New Romanticism was out the door. New Romanticism really hit its peak in the UK in 1981 and most of those groups by 1984 were losing their steam around the world. Of course, some were able to shed the label (particularly Duran Duran), but even Culture Club would have only two Top 40 hits after 1984, neither hitting the Top 10. Of all of those groups that are labeled part of the "New Romanticism" crowd, after 1984 I can't think of a one of them that had any major success on the American charts outside of Human League and Duran Duran, and Human League's major hit after this time some would contribute to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis ("Human"). I would say that Eurythmics, Howard Jones, and Paul Young were part of that first British influx in the 80's, but I don't know if I would put them in the same "New Romanticism" category. On a side note: Another act that saw limited success and is seen as part of the New Romanticism movement only had three hits in America, but was able to reinvent himself a few times so those three hits would come over an amazing 12 year span: From "Goody Two Shoes" in 1982 to "Room At The Top" in 1990 to "Wonderful" in 1995 Adam Ant was able to keep it going. Hard to believe in America that Adam Ant had more Top 40 hits in the 90's than the 80's.

KOKZ just announced that they're playing 9/22/1984 on Sunday. Not 9/8/1984. Is this a mistake? Or are they going rogue?

What I don't get is, why didn't Premiere go with the 9-22-84 show? It WAS Casey-hosted.

I imagine they aren't playing 9/22 because they just played that last year Yeah me too, but what they could have done was to run the September 8 show on the weekend of September 6-7, and then do the yet-unaired September 24, 1983 show this week. Who knows - perhaps they planned it that way and the 9/24/83 show fell through.
