So, I was glancing through some of the show lists for Shadoe Stevens-era shows, when I noticed something interesting. Apparently on 6/3/89, there were no Long Distance Dedications in that show! Granted, this is strictly based off the show data listed on the Old Radio Shows site - however, there's no cue sheet for this week available to double-check.
So, I'm curious...was there really no Long Distance Dedications that week?
(NOTE: Going by Old Radio Shows alone, one would think 11/11 and 11/25/89 didn't have a LDD, either. But the cue sheets for those respective shows reveal that on 11/11, #2 "Listen to Your Heart" [also last week's #1!] was one, and so was #21 "Miss You Much" on 11/25. It does make me wonder about 6/3, but as I said...there's no cue sheet to check.)

It is possible that there may have been LDDs as usual on that broadcast, but they may have all comprised of songs that were on the countdown that week. It's a rarity, and it can happen back in the day.

There were 2 LDDs on 6/3/89:
"Thinking of You" - Sa-Fire "Somewhere Out There"- Linda Ronstadt & James Ingram

There were 2 LDDs on 6/3/89: "Thinking of You" - Sa-Fire "Somewhere Out There"- Linda Ronstadt & James Ingram "Thinking Of You" was likely on the top 40 that week, whereas "Somewhere Out There" was off the charts more than 2 years beforehand. I rarely hear "Somewhere Out There" anywhere nowadays. A popular song in the late 1980s, but very, very rarely played now. And I hear "Thinking Of You" zero percent of the time now - it now falls in the "Whatever happened to..." category.

It's a rarity, and it can happen back in the day. Oh, yes...as I discovered, there were many, many weeks during the Shadoe Stevens era where the week's sole LDD was a countdown song. "Thinking Of You" was likely on the top 40 that week, whereas "Somewhere Out There" was off the charts more than 2 years beforehand. It was #38...last week in the 40. So this was just a case of them forgetting to add in the extra stuff for this week, though they did remember that week's Flashback (1982). I found two more like this, actually: 9/1/90 and 2/9/91. You guessed it...no cue sheet for either one. What were the LDDs those weeks?
