Alright, I'm ready to throw it out. Have any of you ever studied your collection enough to know your favorite 5 shows? If you had to live forever on a desert island with a solar-powered MP3 Walkman (or ugh, an ipod), what 5 shows in history would you choose? I have mine in mind, but interested to see what 1) Shows - and 2) Reasons why you put that show on the list.
If you get more elaborate, and do 10 or 12, so be it!

I'll have to thnk a little bit to come up with 5, but I do know one show I don't get tired of. Sorry Casey, but it was a week when you were gone.
10/11/75 - Guest Hosted by Wink Martindale. Great debut songs that week including: SOS, Sky High and Born To Run. Bad Blood was the new #1. I just liked Wink's delivery on a number of songs.

It is hard to decide , but if I choose only one, it would be March 12, 1988 when my AT40 station was mentioned by Casey, Radio Cádiz FM, Cádiz, Spain.

Man, it'd probably be a few that had short lived songs for my picks.
2-5-77 (For the chicken clucking In The Mood) 3-13-76 (My birth show, plus a Queen story) 8-28-82 (Leads off with a rarely heard Paul Davis Tune) 1-23-88 (Has awesome tunes by Belinda Carlisle & Pet Shop Boys with Dusty Springfield) 3-25-72 (Dick Clark episode also features Climax, Sly Stone & A few other early 72 gems)
I'll stick to 5 though a late 72 show would also qualify for me. Maybe 3-25-78 because of the Bee Gees tunes. They're honorable mentions....

1. March 7, 1987: Mainly because of really great songs that were on the top 40 for an uber-short time, and fell out quickly afterwards. Such great songs included Billy Idol's Don't Need a Gun, Communards' Don't Leave Me This Way, Stacey Q's We Connect, and other great upbeat but short-lived songs. 2. May 26, 1984: Great show, and a reminder of a day I saw a certain Little Rascals cartoon episode on ABC that morning (yes, I really did like the show, despite low ratings) - something about the episode turned me on. But the rest of that information will remain a mystery. 3. April 16, 1983: Bob Eubanks' second episode. He was a game show legend, and was after just debuting Dream House on NBC when he hosted AT40 one last time. Also a day that sticks out to me because that was the day a special friend of mine (and role model) was born. Not to mention Bob Eubanks did a great job hosting Card Sharks during the last half of the 1980s. 4. Top 100 songs of 1986: The only Casey-hosted show on my list. A lot of great songs during that year, not to mention that 1986 was the year I got into AT40 on a regular basis (I started being devoted to the show in late-August 1986, in fact). Sure, Sweet Love by Anita Baker and Love Will Conquer All by Lionel Richie are on there, but I just simply tune them out. 5. January 28, 1995: The finale of the original AT40 run, and the only Shadoe show worthy of listening to. Shadoe and the gang went out on an emotional note, the same way Hollywood Squares with John Davidson went out 6 years beforehand - with a group of people singing Happy Trails To You. It was an emotional finale but overall it was fun to listen to. A great way for the show to go out. 8-28-82 (Leads off with a rarely heard Paul Davis Tune) Is that song by Paul Davis in question '65 Love Affair or Cool Night? I did enjoy '65 Love Affair.

It's neither! It's "Love or Let Me Be Lonely" a cover of a top 10 hit from just before AT40 began by the Friends of Distinction.

Nice work, Oldschool! I am still deciding/shifting mine around.
I did recently get quite a few hosted shows, I guess I really have liked them all, but "hearing Casey smiling" on the delivery is best. The August 13, 83 show with Kari Tombazian was cool.

Kinda hard to pick just five.... 1. 7/4/1981---Top 40 Beatle Hits Special. 2, 12/17/1983---One of my favorite "lost" hits, "When The Lights Go Down" by Naked Eyes, was on this show. 3. Top 100 of 1978 (12/23 and 30/1978). 4. 1/5/1980---Top 50 of the 70s. 5. 12/15/1979---Only week in the Top 40 for the song that launched MTV (Buggles' "Video Killed The Radio Star.")

Nelson episode , in the Shadoe era, was funny , with those 2 twin brothers and some humour, the joke with Shadoe tied inside a sack was repetitive but finally funny. I dont like so much when there is sub host, especially in the Shadoe era, but that episode was funny. It could be considered my favorite episode from that era, no matter the tracks.

Nelson are my favorite guest host during Shadoe's era as well. and the only Shadoe show worthy of listening to. Blasphemy! While AT40 did go on a downward spiral during Shadoe's era, it wasn't because of him. He was always upbeat and good to listen to. I think the 1989-91 years were the best for him.

OldSchool and vto66 , great job - sparked great ideas and reasons why... I challenge the rest of you to try and decide. I personally rate song content first, oddities and "Casey stories" second, and if I remember that week positively third.
vto66 I feel like I replied, but maybe not. "When the Lights Go Out" is one of my favorite 80's songs! What a great song to bring up.

Any way I could get more of you guys to try and name your top 5 favorite shows (and why) again? There were some great answers earlier - what do you think?
