... as part of the Casey's AT40 '70's/'80's?
Looking back through the board, I couldn't find this question posed before, but...
As I was looking at the roster of shows that Premiere has rebroadcast over the last few years, there's the conspicuous absence of the guest hosted episodes. Combining that with other as-yet unbroadcast AT40's from the Casey years, there are undoubtedly songs that perhaps only charted for only a week or two, that have slipped through those cracks.
Now, I'm only talking about songs that were actually played on AT40, not one-week-wonders that may have charted on weeks when AT40 played a special instead of a regular countdown (such as, IIRC, Alice Cooper's "Clones")
So, if I'm collecting/downloading these rebroadcasts, which songs would I have completely missed (to date)? What would have been the highest charting of these 'missing hits'?

Since they don't play guest-hosted shows, they wouldn't have played Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" or The Cure's "Just Like Heaven", since those songs were only played (as far as I know) during guest-hosted shows.
Also, since they didn't start playing the 4-hour 70s shows until recently (and only the last three hours of those shows, at that), you're going to miss a number of songs from those, especially ones that didn't peak higher than the mid-30s.

Don't Leave Me This Way by The Communards - a remake of a #1 disco hit by Thelma Houston - was played on the 3/7/1987 broadcast of AT40 and it was a Charlie Van Dyke-hosted episode. I remember hearing this broadcast way back in 1987, when I was in 8th grade. It was from the first week of the final month of the 1984 cue package (they updated the theme and the intro/outro cues as of April 1987). It debuted at #40 that week, and fell out the following week when Casey returned. You'll have a much better chance of winning the lottery than Premiere ever playing that Communards song (and it is a great remake too).

Who knows, they might pick it as an optional extra Another example of a song unheard as of yet is "Video Killed The Radio Star" by the Buggles... as it was #40 in 1979, therefore in the unplayed first hour if the show with it on ever gets played.

"Don't Need A Gun" debuted on Feb 28, 1987 at #39 and moved to #37 the following week before dropping out of the 40. But the Feb 28, 1987 show hasn't been aired by Premiere so far (Mar 7 was guest-hosted). So, unless it was included as an optional extra, it should be one that Premiere has not played yet.

I do happen to have the episode with The Cure's Just Like Heaven. The funny thing is, it was that week's only debut song, and lasted on the top 40 for only one week! I think the original airdate was January 9, 1988. Charlie Van Dyke's AT40 appearances were nearing the end of his tenure when that episode aired. If I recall, Scott Evans sub-hosted in the summer of 1988 (not sure what date exactly Scott Evans' appearance originally aired, but I am leaning towards late June 1988), and Hall & Oates sub-hosted for Casey at the end of July 1988 for what would be the second last week of Casey's tenure of AT40 before Shadoe Stevens took over as permanent replacement.

^ Scott's show was 7/2/88, the sole week where "Dirty Diana" was #1.
And "Just Like Heaven" was in fact an extra when they aired 12/26/87 at the end of 2008. (EDIT: Also on 11/14/87 as well, in 2009.)
Re: "Video Killed the Radio Star" - I'm thinking there's a strong chance that'll be an extra when Premiere decides to play that week.
There's a WLS aircheck clip out there on YouTube that has much of the first hour of 3/7/87.

I reckon there are a number of "extras" that aired on the original shows that Premiere has seen fit to cut out of the reruns. "Little Ole Man" by Bill Cosby comes to mind.

Interesting goof on the intro to the Jeff Lorber/Karyn White song, with the title given as both "Facts Of Life" and "The Facts Of Love".

I also remember one song from July 1987 that Premiere may not get to play - "Why You Treat Me So Bad" by Club Nouveau. The follow-up to "Lean On Me". It may have entered the top 40 for one week in July 1987 when Charlie Van Dyke possibly hosted. If this is true, then when Casey returned he didn't get a chance to play it.
I remember that Club Nouveau song really well - especially when, during July 2002, I was going for a ride on a Sunday afternoon when I heard that song sampled on Jennifer Lopez's "I'm Gonna Be Alright".
It was sampled 5 years beforehand on Luniz's "I Got 5 On It" - it didn't make it to CT40 nor Rick Dees' WT40, though it did hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. AT40 was defunct during that time.

Also, was there a song by Cutting Crew that spent two weeks on AT40 in July 1987 that only Charlie Van Dyke got to play? I think the song was called "One For The Mockingbird".

"Why You Treat Me So Bad" debuted at #39.
"One For The Mockingbird" debuted at #40 the same week. Moved up to #38 the following week when Casey returned.
