Casey predicted that 'I've got love on my mind' would hit #1. It peaked at #5. On the same show, Casey said 'Crackerbox palace' was at #19, and movin' up. It'd peak right there.

Ponderous, Casey sometimes drops the g, on 'moving', so, don't fault him for that!

On this week's 1975 show, Casey said at the rate Phoebe Snow was climbing, in four week's Poetry Man should be #1. It was #5 then and would go no higher. On the same show he said John Lennon was "headed for a biggie". Stand By Me would only reach #20 and last in the top 40 just five weeks.

On this week's 1976 show, Casey introed Maxine Nightingale saying "this is what the track record of a #1 song looks like, she is headed in that direction". Right Back would stall at #2. CASEY KASEM'S AMERICAN TOP 40 – 4/10/76 5: RIGHT BACK WHERE WE STARTED FROM - MAXINE NIGHTINGALE Casey says, "Third week in Top 10 looks headed to #1".

Said it was a smash as it rose to #3 on the 4/17/76 show. Interesting thing is that just 3 songs earlier, he answered a question about the number of female foreign artists who had hit #1 in chart history. Total was 7 and Maxine would have been the 8th if Casey's previous predictions were correct. As it turned out, it would be 2 and a half years before that 8th female foreign artist would hit #1....Anne Murray. Unless he counts Kiki Dee who hit #1 later in 1976 in a duet with Elton John. None of the 7 mentioned had hit #1 as part of an act that had male billing.

The show This American Life had an interesting, although depressing, story about what became of one of the members of Oxo. www.thisamericanlife.org/tv-archives/season-one/cameraman

Reverse jinx this week on the 1987 show: Casey mentioned artists who had more than 3 consecutive #1's, which Whitney Houston had up to that point. He said that Whitney could possibly extend her streak... not only did she, she would eventually beat out everyone he mentioned the year after with 7 straight #1's.

On last week's 1976 show Casey said Bros Johnson had #2 song on Soul chart & "it looks like they are headed in same direction here on AT40". I'll Be Good would come up just short, topping out at #3. Another 1976 misfire was in this week's show: Casey was listing duos that had the most #1 hits, and said "Keep an eye on the Carpenters", who had 3 #1's to that time. They never even made the top 10 again.
