The other day I got to thinking about some shows that I had the chance to listen to over-the-air, but opted not to for whatever reason. The one I'm thinking most of is 11/1/80, which aired twice (the second time in 2008, when Id've had the chance to catch it). When I read through the 80s thread, I found out that it had been edited by Premiere - none of the three Archives were in the show anywhere. And this apparently happened both times. That got me to thinking...what other shows have aired that have had edits like this in some form? From the 80s, there's only a few I know for sure off the top of my head: 10/17/81 - When it aired its second time in 2008, the first Archive was pushed up a few songs, so that it aired during the second hour (but not at the end of the hour). A couple of 1980 shows, 6/28 and 8/16, both of which aired in 2009, had at least one Archive removed (but not all three). Certainly 70s shows have had such edits, but I have no idea about those whatsoever. Reason I'm really asking is because it makes me wonder if any of these shows will be re-aired again, only this time as they'd be meant to air (meaning, sans edits). Yeah, 11/1/80 in particular has aired twice already, but never without edits. *Title edited to keep XM-aired shows out of this thread.

I doubt it. Premiere edits shows for a variety of reasons (mostly for commercials), so it is unlikely many will be played as originally aired. They edited the very first AT40 show from July 4, 1970. The #39 song ("Silver Bird" by Mark Lindsay) was significantly shortened, the show's first "extra" ("Little Ole Man" by Bill Cosby) was eliminated completely, and various other short bits (like Casey explaining Billboard's methodology) were cut out. The best way to listen to the shows as originally aired is to get a copy from Shannon Lynn for around $20 bucks or so.

I know these aren't exactly as originally aired and that Premiere edits some songs for length - if I counted those edits when asking for shows that were edited when aired, that'd be every single show they air! I guess what I really meant to ask was, what shows have aired so far by Premiere where they either deleted or moved a song? An example would be this week's 10/20/79 show - they moved the second Archive song, "That's the Way (I Like It)" to be one of their extras. Yeah, they're not playing the first hour, but the Archive song is the sort of thing I'm looking for.

They did this a lot with pre '75 shows where Casey plays an extra in the middle of the hour. The extra is edited out and becomes an optional extra at the end of the hour.
