You left off the last two weeks: 10/01/11: 9/30/78 10/08/11: 10/05/74 (Top Producers of the 70s Special)
Also, with the exception of yearend countdowns and the 7/6/74 Top Acts of the 70s show, none of the unaired specials are likely ever to be played by SXM 7 as they have lots of songs that predate 1970 (they routinely edit all pre-70s extras out of the AT40s they do play.)

A lot of work there caseyfan4ever. We all thank you. My prediction for the year end show this year is 1974 since that appears to be the only one they have not played any or all of so far.

Kind of strange that SXM played the 7/5/75 show, being that it was the 7/11/70 first show repeat. Was there anything different about this show compared to the original 1970 show?

Apparently the only difference was that Casey would remind people every so often that it was originally aired 5 years ago.

On the rebroadcast of the first show, Casey starts out by saying "you're about to hear a piece of the past" with a strange background sound. Throughout the show, at the beginning of several tracks, Casey reminds listeners that they are listening to "a piece of the past" or something about a "time warp" In some ways the show reminds me of one of the early "AT40 Flashback 4 hour shows" with Casey's reminders throughout. At the end of the show after his original ending credits, he says "hold it" and reminds people of what they were doing before telling people that "you can reach for those stars".

I went ahead and ran totals for each year so far. I included year end specials but did not include any other specials since they feature multiple years. The number in parentheses is the total including the marathon of shows they played in 2006.
1970........22 (25) 1971........25 (28) 1972........24 (25) 1973........23 (25) 1974........21 (22) 1975........29 (29) 1976........23 (23) 1977....... 24 (25) 1978........31 (33) 1979........33 (36)
So they have played the first year (when you pro-rate it) and the last 2 years of the decade the most. It is also worth noting that in 2007 they played back to back shows from the same year for the only time, from 1979.

Wow, I thought I did a lot of work for this board but you have topped that caseyfan.
Ok, I found one mistake. SXM played the show from 10/10/70 last year and not 10/3/70. Just to check, it is the show with Cracklin Rosie at #1 and that was the only week. So that show has been played but maybe not 10/3/70.
Comments on some of that have not been played that need to be played.................... 5/13/72 features the top 8 being soul songs 9/23/72 features 39 male acts in the top 40 7/14/73 is the first time Casey mentions the chart date (after the first AT40) Well said about Rick Dees! 12/17/77 is the 10th week at #1 for "You Light Up My Life"...most surprised that this has not been played 4/29/78 on a personal note, this features my question being answered 8/19/78 features the top 14 songs in the same position

I went back and checked the old Fun and Games message board on voy.com and found a list of the AT40 shows played on XM 80s on 8 (Casey Kasemas as it was called then) from Dec 2002 to Feb 2003. Although I haven't seen any posts from "Alfred G." for some time, he, along with Scott Lakefield," was responsible for compiling these lists and a BIG THANK YOU to them for all their work. *-Denotes repeat at some point during the marathon, (NFBS)=Show not broadcast as part of the Flashback series

80s on 8 ceased broadcasting AT40 on Feb 7, 2003. Although there were lots of reports at the time that they did so because of opposition from other listeners, the real reason was that they had only obtained temporary rights resulting from Premiere's decision to end the Flashback series. XM's continuing to broadcast AT40 at that time would have cost lots of money for broadcast and chart rights, which was something that they were apparently not able to spend at that time. By 2006 an agreement was reached allowing the present XM/SXM broadcast of AT40.

I went back and checked the 2002-2003 XM 80s AT40 shows against the "MIA list" and no additional shows that haven't been played were found, therefore no changes necessary.
