As a side note,I don't believe that it's legal for radio stations to stream college and pro sports on their websites as what is happening tonight. Were that to be the case, then it'd be virtually impossible for the sports radio format (yep, that's a thing!) to even continue to exist. No, more than likely, they have a licensing arrangement setup to have the rights to do so. Another example: WGHN as a Michigan State basketball/football affiliate.

It may also depend on who controls the rights to the broadcasts. For example here in Iowa when Iowa Hawkeyes play on WMT out of Cedar Rapids they don't stream the games because they are not allowed to.

I would imagine Radio Gold (Germany) will play the '72 show. Not sure, yet. Does anybody speak German so that a quick email can be sent to the station?

Prediction for next week's show: 1st Guess - 3/23/74 2nd Guess - 3/20/76 Both of these are new shows--wouldn't surprise me if we got either one of them... Would it surprise you if we got neither of them? Because next week's show is in fact a show that previously aired in 2011. It's 3/15/1975: www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/03-15-75.pdfA note regarding this show: If you recall from when this last aired, this was a week where AT40 played the B-side of the Ringo Starr single currently in the countdown, "The No No Song". (That B-side is "Snookeroo", and was this the only week where that happened?) "The No No Song" was originally played as the third optional extra - but this time, it has been replaced with "Shining Star" by Earth, Wind, & Fire, ostensibly in memory of Maurice White. The other two extras - "How Long" by Ace and "Amie" by The Pure Prairie League - will remain so. So yes, no new show for next weekend, but at least 1975 had been the year with the longest drought (excluding 1970 of course), so there's still some logic in choosing. This is decidedly not the case with the 80s selection, as you will all learn very shortly...

"Snookeroo" was played on AT40 three other times (according to the cue sheets): February 22 (its debut), March 1, and March 29, 1975. Interestingly, the first of those weeks it was followed by another ex-Beatle B-side, Paul McCartney's "Sally G", which reentered the top 40 for a week.

Good story on this week's show about Joe Tex at the Stallion in Durham, NC. Even though I live in the area, I can't check that place out because it apparently closed down in the 90s. Interesting that the search results for it reveal a picture from inside the club taken in 1971, the year that said story took place. Wonder if Joe bumped with a fat woman at the club in later years and got another title of a hit. Of course this is back to back with "American Pie". slf hates one of these songs and asked why another hates the other song. Me, I like the story Don tells and the way he presents it. And Joe comes off quite funny to my ears as he did 44 years ago when I was hearing this as a current hit. BTW, the song that transports me back to that time frame more than any other on this countdown is "Roundabout". Couple classic songs with really long Lp versions in this show between that and AP.

92.9 The Lake were playing 1972 & just came out of the break with a segment from last weeks 1979 show.
They repeat Sunday, but unless they fix it between now & then you might want to try another station.
*Edit-Albe beat me to it

For those who want to hear 3/11/1972, may I suggest WBBG Niles/Youngstown. They will reair 3/11/1972 on Sunday 8am (Eastern D.S.T).They been airing AT40 (The '70's) for at least 9 years and they always go for the "A" show. Don't forget to set your clocks one hour forward.

"Sally G" is one of my favorite McCartney songs, and "Snookeroo" is another great one from the songwriting team of Elton John and Bernie Taupin.

My predictions were totally out the window this week. Sure 1975 did have the longest drought, but I was going with 4/12/75 as the next show from that year, since it would have been new. 1974 hadn't been played since January either...
