1973 (3)
January – 1/13, 1/27 February – 2/17 – (final original mono show)
If anybody finds a mistake, please post.
Sadly, I do not have some shows aired in mono2stereo as I listened to them on stations that were playing them in mono due to bandwidth or other technical reasons.
Cheers to Ken Martin for bringing these original mono shows to the highest quality sound they deserve!

^Agreed! These early 70s shows used to sound very dull to me and not even worth listening to until Ken began making them in stereo.

Regarding "If You Could Read My Mind",is that segment voiced by Larry Morgan or by Casey?

Correct me if I am wrong - but according to my memory and ear way back when - it seemed to me that someone (not sure if it was Ken) made some of the early shows "mostly" stereo by replacing the music in between Casey's intro and outro for each song. The music underneath Casey's talking stayed in its original mono form. Later (last 3 years?) Ken started his process of lifting Casey's voice from the music and replacing the entire song. And it also seems that Ken's conversions contain a higher quality source for his song replacement.

As Larry mentioned, it was from Billboard's #1 album of 1972. Yes, mystery solved once I heard the show. Granted, "Old Man" probably has a higher profile now than a fair number of songs that made the 1972 top 80. Speaking of which, when Larry played "Anticipation" as the final OE he said that it made Billboard's Top 80 of 1972 but not AT40's. 1. Was that the only song that made BB but not AT40? 2. What song(s) which we heard Casey announce missed the BB Top 80?

"Trogolodyte" and "Family Affair" made BB but not Casey.

Settling in for a great three hours of January 1971 on WSQL! Just noticed how much the backing track of Andy Kim's second Ronettes remake, "Be My Baby". sounds like his first Ronettes remake, "Baby I Love You" from 1969. Funny that I still occasionally hear the latter Kim remake but never the former.

Casey sounds so...relaxed...in this show. Can't wait to hear him intro Perry Como!

And it also seems that Ken's conversions contain a higher quality source for his song replacement. I believe that Shannon tried to replace some of the songs but didn't have the technology to remove the music under Casey so it was a hard cut when he stopped talking over the intro. It's also possible that Premiere may have replaced a poor/defective copy of a mono song with a stereo version before I started the mono2stereo conversion. When Premiere QC's the program, Toby will note any imperfections in the audio transfer from the original vinyl copy and replace that song with a new, digital copy.
