Premiere optional extras for 1/10/76 in 2014 were:
"Take It To The Limit" The Eagles "Teen Angel" Mark Dinning "December 1963 (Oh What A Night)" The Four Seasons
I'll go with:
"Only Sixteen" "Teen Angel" "The Way I Want To Touch You"

Hmmm...not what I would have picked, as the last regular show of 2018 was from December 1975, with most of the same songs. Still, it's generally a good crop of them. (I seem to remember someone recently mentioning the Road Apples' "Let's Live Together" on here; this is one of only two countdowns that includes it.)
1/10/76 was last played in January 2014, when it followed the 1975 year end show, so for three straight weeks we got countdowns just as they aired in 1975-76.

Well - somewhat disappointed since this was played in 2014. Would have rather had 01.16.71 or 01.13.73.

Another lost gem on the show-Bob Dylan's "Hurricane". I recorded this show a couple months back on the Classic AT40 IHeart Radio Channel. They most definitely edited the "S" word in the line "S@?& was about to go down".

I’ll also change out two extras due to the recent deaths of Ray Sawyer and Daryl Dragon:
* “Lonely Night (Angel Face)” — Captain and Tennille. Not yet on the charts but just released as their new single. * “Only Sixteen” — Dr. Hook. * December 1963 (Oh What a Night)” — Four Seasons f. Frankie Valli.

Agree mkarns--a very strange selection to say the least. Anyone want to guess (without peeking) how many songs this show has in common with the last weekly countdown that was just played three weeks ago (12/20/75)? Probably quite a few... EDIT: Nevermind, just saw mga707 posted earlier that there were only 12 songs different between the two programs...so yes, that's 28 of the same songs. At least most of them are pretty good songs!

Reminds me of what they did on the 80s show a year ago - the last weekly show of 2017 was the December 28, 1985 show and then the first weekly show of 2018 was the January 18, 1986 show. A little wider spread, but still, very close together - especially since they'd just done a late November, 1985 show just weeks before. But this is a little better IMO, since early 1976 was a good musical era - early 1986 was kinda boring, for some reason. 1/10/76 was last played in January 2014, when it followed the 1975 year end show, so for three straight weeks we got countdowns just as they aired in 1975-76. At least in that case, very few of the same songs on the 1975 year-ender were heard on the 1976 show.

You would think Premiere's schedule makers would be aware of that situation with December and January shows from the following year, and maybe they are. But it's really rare these days that two shows that originally aired 3 weeks apart, and with so many songs in common, are played that close together throughout the year.

In 2007-08, the first year-to-year of this series, Premiere did the opposite of the 1975-76 and 1985-86 closeness (and this week's 1980-81 isn't far off from those): it played a December 1971 show, then the (heavily edited by Premiere) 1978 year end over two weeks, then January 1971. But while the last regular show of 2007 and first of 2008 may have been from the same calendar year, they obviously had completely different sets of songs.

The chart action on the 1/10/76 survey is what I would consider boring. Exactly half the songs in the Top 40 move up two notches.
There a string of eight songs in a row that move up 2. But it seems this occurred more due to two big dropping songs out of the Top 10 than on their own merit.
After that string is broken, 8 of the next 11 move up 2. Then in the 30s, there's 3 in a row involving songs that peak in the 30-40 range.
The last one is in the Top 10 where one song that is descending holds while the one that was behind the previous week jumps ahead.
There are no big impact debuts, and the whole Top 40 is focused on two big moves in the top 6, 4 songs with significant drops, and 2 songs outside the Top 10 that move up more than 5 notches.
Still the music is enjoyable, and Casey can sell it like no one else can.

One more note that Brian may appreciate, the chart dated January 10, 1976 presented a rare occasion where both Casey Kasem (on AT40) and Don Bowman (on American Country Countdown) announced the same number one single.

This was the second such time, the first being four months earlier ("Rhinestone Cowboy" on 9/13/75). Other such occasions in the 1970-88 era were 11/22/80 ("Lady") and 10/29 and 11/5/83 ("Islands In the Stream"). Several other songs topped both countdowns, but not in the exact same weeks.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 1/16/71 2nd Guess - 1/22/77
Different week, same 1st guess. 1971 is due, with the previous show in the original sequence having been 11/21/70. Add to that, there hasn't been a show with a 1971 date since the beginning of October.
