Was 9/20/75 a guest-hosted show? 9/27/75 is a week ahead of normal. No, Casey hosted it. SXM has played it, but not Premiere. I do wish they were playing 9/20/75 this week; that was the week I was born, and it would have been a nice way to finish up my "top 40." Right--since this whole A/B show business started, the 'B' shows have always been a repeat of a previously aired show. Presumably, this has to do with the fact that there is next to nothing in the way of production involved for Premiere--they simply pull the show out of the archives with Larry Morgan-voiced intros, extras, etc. and make it available on their FTP site. Since 9/20/75 has not yet been aired by Premiere, it would not be "eligible" to be aired as a 'B' show (whereas 9/27/75 was last aired as an 'A' show in 2011, and was thus introduced by Larry M). Interestingly enough, 9/27/75 was also aired as a 'B' show just a year ago. Not sure why they didn't pick something different for the 'B' show because of that...

KKPR just cut off this week's 1976 show for a Kansas City Royals baseball game. (Note: their schedule calls for the 80s AT40 at 3 PM, so that may well be delayed or incomplete.) They will probably run the Royals game again this Saturday night starting at 5:30 local time that could affect the final part of the 80's show this weekend.

That won't be the only issue with KKPR (formerly known as Power 99) In the coming months, they willl probably broadcast Storm hockey games. Tri-City Storm is a USHL hockey team. Ironically, I will be out there this weekend and won't catch the Sat afternoon 80's show (Something else is going on at 2:30!) The Sunday airings are The 70's at 5pm central and the 80's at 8pm central time.

Magic 98 is running 9/27/75 this weekend. So probably is KOKZ. Yesterday's "Forgotten 45 at 5" was from 1975. (EWF's "That's the Way of the World", which I'm not sure should be considered forgotten as it does get recurrent play.)

It would be interesting to know how many countries Casey mentioned in his nearly 40 year career that no longer exist today. I am guessing he did mention, for example, East Germany at some point. Or West Germany for that matter. Those countries of course became one contiguous country soon after the Berlin Wall fell in 1989. In this week's show, he mentions East Pakistan. That region was officially renamed Bangladesh by the end of 1971 as they attained independence. FYI, unlike East and West Germany, East and West Pakistan are not contiguous. About 1000 miles of India is in between the two or what is now Bangladesh and Pakistan. And there is your history lesson for today.

West Germany was mentioned numerous times (including in 1973, 1975, 1981, 1987 and 1988) as part of the American Forces network.

Casey mentioned the Soviet Union many times, and probably Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia too.

When the 9/30/78 showed aired in 2008, these were the optional extras:
Hour #1: "Time Passages" - Al Stewart Hour #2: "Ready To Take A Chance Again" - Barry Manilow Hour #3: "Just What I Needed" - The Cars
Mike... any hint as to how many of these remain as extras versus how many are new?
EDIT: "Just What I Needed" was on its way down the Hot 100 so at least one optional extra will change.

Unfortunately this is a week where I'm still (currently) in the dark as far as extras.

For 9/30/1978, I'll go with:
"Straight On" "Strange Way" "I Just Wanna Stop"

Wouldn't you typically expect a B show offering for this one?
