Turning to 1970, if I had never heard the song before I would have thought "Itsy-Bitsy, Teeny-Weeny, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" was an instrumental with how muted the lyrics were. Was this just a WRQN problem or did anybody else notice this? Also, the tease for "Itsy-Bitsy......" wasn't edited out from where it had been in the show. I noticed this on WFXY also. I switched my old Advent sound system to mono and it sounded fine. Haven't checked WODC or another stream that I monitor. Used to be that AT40 prior to 1972 were all mono. Now it seems that at least the songs are stereo. Perhaps an error in audio processing on this song? Not the radio stations' fault, IMHO. Probably in the minority here, but I prefer that mono be left as it is. That is how it would have sounded originally on the radio in 1970. (Disclaimer: I worked at an AM radio station in the late 1970s!) If we're the minority, then at least there are two of us. Leave them in mono if that's how they were originally broadcast. Pretty sure Brian Wilson would be on our side as well...

WPNC (4-hr) & KYMG (3-hr) maintain their streaks of opting for 1979. Will WPNC play 1979 again Tuesday 8/11 at midnight?

Hits 100 Aruba have also played the 4 hour complete show. They sometime will start the show an hour earlier than advertised time.

When 1979 was the A show two weeks ago,Hits 100 only played the final three hours. I suspect that they will go with 1970 tonight and if they play 1979 it would be the final three hours only.

Thanks Mike--do you know if they will be voiced by Larry Morgan, or will they be the faux Casey-voiced extras? For 1973, we've had both so far this year (I believe Larry voiced the extras on the 5/26/73 show).

I'm going to assume that means Larry Morgan will voice them, only because if it were Casey, I'd know that for sure already.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess: 8/19/72 2nd Guess: 8/23/75
Here's another chance for Premiere to play a show in that big hole of July-August 1972, and it would make sense since 1972 currently has the second longest drought of any year. 1977 has the longest, but 8/20/77 was aired just two years ago (8/27/77 has an outside shot for next week, but my guess is that we'll either hear that show or 9/3/77 in the coming weeks).

I only count three future top 10 hits, and I'm going with the one that topped them all: * "Half-Breed" -- Cher. The two future top 20 hits: * "Free Ride" -- The Edgar Winter Group. * " Why Me" -- Kris Kristofferson. (A song that had been in the top 40 before, but was bouncing around and eventually would peak at No. 16 in November ... more than four months after reaching No. 1 on the country chart.) Brian P.S.: The only other two future top 10 hits I saw were Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" and B.W. Stevenson's "My Maria." Those were the only three future top 10s I could find from 8/18/73. The versions of "Top of the World" (by Lynn Anderson) and "Just Don't Want To Be Lonely" (by Ronnie Dyson) on the chart were not the ones that ultimately went top 10. They also messed up the title of the Isley Brothers hit, listing it as "Meet That Lady".

Yeah, I miscounted for that clue. Didn't seem to affect people's guesses, though.

I guess someone partied hearty the night before they did that 8/18/73 Hot 100 chart! That was around the time I started buying Billboard. I have lots of them still and wouldn't be surprised if I had that one, as I remember that error from back then. Did Casey ever mention the error? I know it didn't affect the show, but still it was the show's chart source.

No he did not. The first week that he said the title was "That Lady" was 9/8. Someone will have to check whether that coincides with the week that the title was changed on the Hot 100.
