Yes it is and to be technical it was Bensonhurst not Bay Ridge. Bay Ridge is not even close to Queens.

Wow, 5/12/79 has 11 "disappearing acts" (artists with their only top 40 hits), as well as 5 additional acts with their first top 40s.
Spring '79 was noob heaven!

I think the August 1978 show in which the first long distant dedication was played, Casey said there was 17 acts with their first top 40 single. That show seemed to be loaded with significant chart records at the time. oldradioshows.com/at40/082678.html5/19/79 also had 17 debut acts. 12 with their only top 40 single.

Enjoying the memo from Tom Rounds on the 5/12/79 sheet, with the little tweak re stations overly concerned with content. After referencing the ability to edit out the reference to Casey's Dinah Shore Show appearances and Elton John's "The B***h is Back" having posed a lyrical issue, he notes: "Rod Stewart's 'Ain't Love A B***h' enters the countdown, and will very likely become Top 10. We mention this fact in case there are subscribers who feel the title and record would offend in markets where there are no b***hes." Snark. (Though the song did stall at #22.)

And just as Ken promised, WTOJ (accessible through Tunein) is playing the complete May 12, 1979 countdown, just started with the first of four hours.

WODC skipped the 1st opt xtra in this morning's 1979 countdown. I was listening through iheartradio app. Not sure whether real broadcast in Ohio played 1st opt xtra..

For those who missed the first hour, Larry introed "Ring My Bell" by noting that DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince (Will Smith, of course) had a hit with it in 1991.
Their version peaked at #20 in November 1991 and disappeared from AT40 the following week as they changed charts. (It never made CT40.)
Good example of "Disco Casey" being energetic and really into the countdown. I found it odd that he did an "AT40 Mini Quiz" guessing Ringo Starr's real name ("which Beatle uses an assumed name"?, with three choices of name) between #28 and 27, neither of which had anything to do with him.

That reminds me of what Casey did on CT40/AT40 from 1989-2003, he'd have a trivia question just before a commercial break and answer it after a commercial.

He sounded like he was having a blast reeling off those multiple rhyming names. No doubt all us Beatles geeks were shouting out "Paul Ramon"! "Dr. Winston O'Boogie"! "L'Angelo Misterioso"!
