ETA: Listen to the 1979 show. Must have been extra time during this show. An interesting filler was used (I assume online only) between Herb Albert's extra and number 27: Dexy's Midnight Runners' "Come On Eileen", an 80's song used during a 70's countdown show (and also couple other songs from the 80s were used). It didn't interrupt any of the show, though. For the record, the other songs played during the commercial breaks were Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax" and Soft Cell's "Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go?". There was also a few minutes of dead air.

I'm wondering if all three 1972 optional extras are going to be Casey-voiced, or if the one holdover will be a Larry-voiced repeat of what was in the previous Premiere rebroadcast. It seems to be standard procedure at this point that any newly done optional extras for shows from 1970 to 1973 get the "cut and paste" Casey treatment, so I would assume that at least the two new extras are like that. That would also explain the use of a song that was dropping. Premiere seems more likely to bend the rules and use droppers for the Casey-voiced optional extras, presumably because the need to find an existing Casey intro that is suitable for presenting a song as an extra (or at least can be edited to serve that purpose) limits the pool of songs that can be used.
I believe there has been only one show with a mix of new Casey-voiced and holdover Larry-voiced intros, which was last year's repeat of 4/8/72. The original broadcast had two Larry-voiced optional extras and one optional extra which had been an extra in the original broadcast. The 2014 repeat had one new Casey-voiced extra, one holdover Larry-voiced extra, and the extra that had been in the original show.

Oh! Thank you for bringing that up. Knew I forgot to mention something... All of the 72 extras this weekend will be voiced by Casey, rather than by Larry Morgan.

When the 2/18/78 show last aired in 2009, these were the optional extras:
Hour #1: "Ebony Eyes" - Bob Welch Hour #2: "Sweet Talkin' Woman" - ELO Hour #3: "You Haven't Done Nothin'" - Stevie Wonder (original AT40 Extra)
I'm thinking these were not introduced by Larry Morgan so one or more of the extras may change.

I guess there's no B show, for later on in the decade for the '72 show.

I guess there's no B show, for later on in the decade for the '72 show. I thought there was a 1976 B show this weekend I think he met that since the show is from later in the decade than 1972, there'll be no B show. For the 1970s, "B"s are offered when one of the shows is from 1970-72, or is four hours long (October 1978-1979). For the first half of 2009, Mike Kasem introed the optional extras; when his father retired Larry Morgan started doing so. So the intros, and possibly the songs picked, will be different.

Aaaaggghhh! Audio waterboarding going on right now on KLFM: "Once You Understand"! one of my all-time "jukebox from hell" selections. Am I the only one who remembers there being two versions of it -- one where the father's breakdown at the end just seems to go on forever, in a fit of hysterical crying, and another where his reaction is brief?

OK, now that we know that one is a repeat, my 2/18/78 optional extra predictions are: * "You Haven't Done Nothin'" by Stevie Wonder (original extra) * "If I Can't Have You" by Yvonne Elliman * "Runnin' On Empty" by Jackson Browne

I'm going to try one more time at WKIX, this time with the webmaster (who won't see my question till at least Monday), and if they don't get back to me, I'm going to conclude that either (1) the person to whom Premiere sends the cue sheets no longer works for the station (or its parent company), meaning the sheets went into "the bit bucket", or (2) Premiere stopped sending them, and we can guess the reasons.

"Once You Understand" reminds me of www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4NlR5KQLQ8I wonder if either of these songs would have been written if not for All In The Family. I keep expecting to hear someone say terlet or dingbat.

What is wrong with Rewind 103.9? Tonight they are playing the 80's show.A couple of weeks ago they aired the current AT40 with Ryan Seacrest. I guess they aren't paying attention to what show they put in their computer? Tonight Rewind 103.9 is playing the 1983 show and started with the second hour (#30) Their station is totally messed up concerning AT40 The 70's.
