In mid to late 1974 when Casey talks about songs or things coming up, there is this funky instrumental music playing in the background more often than not. I don't remember Pete or Rob mentioning it in their book. Does anyone know if this is an actual song they made their own bumper music out of or is it just production music?

Yeah, and it's not just the sort of game show like background music that was played during the '71-'73 shows. It's weird because if feels like you are hearing the beginning of the next song, then it goes away and the next song starts.
Also during that same stretch they had radio stations provide their own ID's. Not sure yet what I think of that, but it's kind of fun to hear the shows where that happened.

I liked that too!
oh, the "newsflash" music? I made a loop of it without Casey and thought about using it for my countdown and then abandoned the idea.
As for the beginning of the next song thing, I agree, it confused me a few times.
I'd love to know about it... Pete?

In the 1970 shows, the background music was too loud. You had to strain yourself to hear what Casey was saying. For whatever reason, they did not want Casey talking over nothing.
