Can't imagine how many hours of work it took Ken to put together the shows like the "Part 1" shows of 1971, 1973, and 1979. Impressive work to pull together all of those sound bites and make it sound so close to authentic. I edit in one song of a show (e.g. a full version of a song I like to replace an edited version) and it takes me almost a half hour sometimes. Can't imaging putting together a 50-song show!

You know the only year from 1970 to 2003 that Casey did not do a year end countdown on either AT40 or CT40 for is 1988. Does Ken ever consider doing an entire top 100 of 1988 as he has done with some of these other years that Casey only did a top 40 or 50? First of all, it would have to be done as Casey's Top 40 since there is already a year end survey for 1988. Doing one for AT40 would be stepping on toes since Shadoe Stevens did that one. So the CT40 shows would have to be airing before this happens. Ken would also need to utilize clips from the CT40 shows to come up with this countdown. His main issue would be finding clips for some of the song titles and artist names exclusive to the latter part of 1988 that likely made the top 100 of that year. I don't have such a listing since it is based on the R&R charts. In fact, maybe this was compiled by the CT40 staff if R&R did not publish such a list. Anyway, that can be complied if necessary. But songs like "What's on Your Mind" by Information Society, "Wild, Wild West" by Escape Club and "Simply Irresistible" by Robert Palmer would be a bit tricky since Casey never mentioned any of those titles on any show. As to the latter, Casey mentioned "Addicted to Love" and "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On" as big hits that Robert previously had but not Irresistible in the intro to "You're Amazing" when it first debuted in 1990. But he did say the title 'was simply "You're Amazing"', so he said one of the words. Ken would have to possibly go to the second AT40 run and pick up the word irresistible from Jessica Simpson's hit of that name in 2001. For the other two hits, he could piece together the words of the Information Society and Escape Club hits to get their titles. By the way, both acts had hits during the CT40 run so he could get Casey saying their act names from CT40 shows.
So I think it can be done from a logistical standpoint. It comes down to whether the CT40 shows ever start being aired and whether doing this top 100 is worth doing.

nfn, but if they ever play a Year End 1988 show, I'd prefer they'd just unentangle the rights/clearances/whatever and play the actual AT40 Year Ender with Shadoe. At that point, the show was still using many holdover Casey era jingles and whatnot, and still 'sounded' in many regards to the last few Casey shows.

IIRC, Casey did mention "What's On Your Mind" by Information Society when recapping #1's on other charts, as this was a dance chart topper; however, I think he said on one of them as "What's On My Mind".
ETA: Correct on the jingles; they didn't change until 2/11/1989, Shadoe's 27th show (so he hosted AT40 for 26 weeks with the 1987 jingle package).

^You got it! He did indeed say that on the 7/16/88 show. Did say the title correctly. Nice catch man!

From what I have gathered, Ken can not use any of Casey's voicetracks from Westwood One, which is one of the reasons the "#1s of the 1980s" specials were not able to go all the way through to December 1989. And going back to pull some of those titles from when they would have been used as AT20/AT10 extras would likely have far too much variance in the age of Casey's voice.

Is there any way Ken Martin can compile a # 100 to # 51 of the 1994 year end show? I would love to see what would have made it. I wonder if “Basket Case” by Green Day would have made it? Doubtful, as none of the Shadoe shows are even being syndicated. If anything, I bet Casey's Top 40 gets re-aired before Shadoe's AT40 does, and even that's not a foregone conclusion. ETA: To further complicate matters, AT40 tabulated their own chart for the 1994 year-end. It isn't as easy for someone like Ken Martin to expand, like it was for 1971 and 1979, when AT40 used Billboard's year-end charts those years, and could view those charts beyond what AT40 originally counted down. Speaking of Shadoe shows, they're unfortunately not anywhere at the moment. I have not seen any listed on eBay in quite a while. I am trying to find the original CDs of the Top 100 of 1989, but with no one listing them lately on eBay, I'm sort of at a stand still on my search for it.

Just a friendly warning: You're getting close to a 'no go' area here. Not supposed to post anything about buying/selling shows from unauthorized sources, meaning anyone other than Shannon Lynn. You may want to take a look at the first entry on the subject list.

I just know the original radio CDs are the only way to hear old shows and I didn't mean any harm on here, I only hope to hear this show sometime. That's all. But, I'll correct my initial statement to say that unfortunately, Shannon has not had any Shadoe shows in stock for a long time. He did list them on eBay years ago, but they have been out of stock for a while. I asked him recently and he does not have any. But, maybe he will find some at a radio vault some time. You never know.

Get Used To It ranked #83... was this the highest year end ranking ever for a peak outside the top 20? BTW the intro lifted from the weekly survey was one of LVKs favorite by Casey ever...

No it is not. Off the top of my head, there was "I Want to Take You Higher" by Ike & Tina Turner that peaked at #34 on the weekly survey and came in at #79 on BB's year end pop singles chart. Another that ranked even higher is "Days of Wine and Roses" by Henry Mancini, it peaked at #33 on the weekly chart and ranked at #37 on BB's originally published top pop singles chart for 1963.

And some of us recently heard that as the second song on the first half of the Top 80 of 1970 that Sirius-XM ran a few weeks back. I still recall hearing it on Christmas weekend of 1970 and wondering how such a low-charting song had made the top 80 of the year. Now I know it was due to it spending 18 weeks on the Hot 100, which in fast-churning 1970 was a lengthy stay on the chart.
