Just in case anyone is interested, I have recorded a countdown of Cashbox Magazine's Top 100 of 1979 for family and friends and would be glad to share it with anyone who wants a copy. I have it on a single CD in MP3 format.

Old post, but a slight correction: ^Reminds me of how I used to keep track of the differences between Billboard and R&R. I think the biggest discrepancy I saw (for a song that was released as a commercial single) was "Baby Got Back" becoming Billboard #1 song of 1992 and not making R&R's year-end Top 100, despite making the Top 40 earlier that summer. "Baby Got Back" was the top-selling single of 1992 - but was not Billboard's [overall] #1 song of 1992, as like on AT40, that was "End of the Road". Billboard had three listings of relevance here: The Hot 100 survey for 1992 (top 100), and the top-selling and most-played songs of the year (Top Singles Sales Tracks and Top 40 Radio Monitor Tracks, each a top 75). "Road" topped both the year-end Hot 100 survey and most-played survey.

I plan to listen to WTOJ tomorrow as they'll feature the supersized version. Hopefully weather doesn't disrupt things out there, as Ken posted in the 70s thread. Best to have a backup plan in place.

I bet "Baby Got Back" didn't make the Shadoe AT40 Top 100 of 1992 (when it had songs on that year end chart that never made R&R's CHR Top 40 used for Casey's Top 40 and Rick Dees "Too Blind to See It" by Kym Sims and "Nu Nu" by Lidell Townsell) - or did it?

Nice job on the creation of #100-#51 for 1979, Ken Martin!

Is there any way Ken Martin can compile a # 100 to # 51 of the 1994 year end show? I would love to see what would have made it. I wonder if “Basket Case” by Green Day would have made it?

Doubtful, as none of the Shadoe shows are even being syndicated. If anything, I bet Casey's Top 40 gets re-aired before Shadoe's AT40 does, and even that's not a foregone conclusion. ETA: To further complicate matters, AT40 tabulated their own chart for the 1994 year-end. It isn't as easy for someone like Ken Martin to expand, like it was for 1971 and 1979, when AT40 used Billboard's year-end charts those years, and could view those charts beyond what AT40 originally counted down.

Where did the Bob Seger story about his Mom's advice that was told by Casey Kasem before #94 We've Got Tonite originally come from, December 2, 1978 or?!

I don't think it came from "We've Got Tonite". I remember hearing the story before, but can't quite remember what song or what show it's from. Casey told that story leading into a different Seger song. I'll try to locate it. ETA: It was 5/31/1980, leading into "Against The Wind" at #9.
