For those of you who stream and record the show, do you guys edit certain parts like deleting commercials or songs you don't like? I spend a lot time in Audacity trimming the show to a more manageable length. I also keep a scoped version where only the intro and outro of the song is played so you hear Casey speaking most of the time.
The caveat is maintaining the same quality as the original stream since it's not very high quality to begin with. That's why finding a good stream is important. The best would be to record the show from the radio to your computer if your local station carries it.

Yes, I certinally do. I try to maintain consistant with the Premier cue sheet. I use Roxio Sound Editor which is easy to use once you get the hang of it. I remove all material that is not associated with the program disc and break it down to three tracks for each hour plus one for the AT40 extra songs at the end of the hour.

I remove the commercials. I record from jack fm and the quality is amazing and using cool edit, i dont lose any quality by removing commercials.

I use Replay AV 8 to record the show and save it as one large MP3.
Then I use WavePad 3.05 to edit the MP3 into each individual song section following the weekly Cue Sheet (if available).
Using this week's show (5-3-1975) as example, here would be the song sections for the first hour:
Songs40-39 Songs38-36 Songs35-34 Songs33-32 Songs31-30 Songs29-27
I prefer each song section to have the opening and closing logos (ie. 'American Top 40' & 'Casey's Coast to Coast'). When I record from XM my song sections sound chopped up due to missing logos (Thanks for nothing Sirius/XM).
When I'm done splitting the show apart, I keep the MP3's in folders named to match the date of the show.
If I want to put the show on my iPod, I use Direct MP3 Joiner 3.0 to put song sections back together in hour segments. So the 6 song sections listed above would be edited together in a file called 1975-05-03-Hour1.MP3
Finally I delete the one large MP3 file that I started with.

Too much trouble in my opinion. I just fast-forward through the commercials. Plus the shows are never saved, so it is one-and-out for me.

I record using the Frecorder Toolbar but don't edit out commercials. They don't bother me much and I just skip forward when impatient with them. For the SXM broadcasts, there is of course, no editing required.

I only record the SXM shows, on my XM inno. I don't edit it, but due to limited space I delete most of the broadcast after a week, except for selected songs I like but don't otherwise have that I "lock" and save.
I don't have the technology to record the terrestrial versions, though if "jack fm" mentioned is WQSR, I do like their promos of it, including some by "Jack's friend, Casey Kasem". If I did record it, I'd edit out the other ads.

I just edit out the commercials. I'll leave in the station IDs as well as the occasional "retromercials" (as TV Land would call them) left in by Premiere, but the present day commercials are always cut out when I edit the show to be burned to disc.

Well, I record onto "Cassette" tape, (I can hear the *gasps* now) because I can pick up both WINC and WQSR O-T-A (Over the air). I prefer the (sometims heavily) processed sound of Radio versus mp3 quality internet broadcasts. I don't edit the cassettes, just hit record an let it go. Down the road I'll edit together a couple of shows (weed out the songs I dont like) an create a copy that is a comercial free 3 hour episode. Even though its not a true representation of the actual chart, its a countdown that at least I'll enjoy listening to.
Some of the XM shows I did record straight to my mp3 player/recorder, which would typically be about a 2gig .wav file. Intially from my XM tuner but later on thru my Dishnetwork Satelite receiver, I found the audio quality there much better. The shows I recorded onto my mp3 player (aka: Portable Media Recorder, also known as the "Pocketdish") I would edit, but thats just cuz....well...what can you do w/ a 2 gig file? not much. I would edit the show into aproximatly 1.25 hour blocks and then burn it to disk. XM hasnt aired any 80s shows since October, but yet I still have more shows I need to edit an subsqeuntly burn to disk.

Whenever possible (i.e., whenever my computer doesn't screw up), I use Adobe Audition n the timed record mode, since the show often airs at a time when I'm at work, and then edit out the local breaks, leaving the national spots. If I catch the show on a Canadian station, then the "International Version" rules apply (no commercials).

I have Roxio "Sound Editor" - if you can get the "Roxio 7" version, it's old, but amazing. The newer versions have more bells n whistles than needed. Roxio Creator is a great package to both capture and edit.

I don't edit the shows, just fast forward through the commericals as needed. I listen during commutes to work and don't want to spoil the listening experience. May edit them sometime down the road though.

Now I do after learning how to use a program called "mp3 direct cut" and it's absolutely simple once you get the hang of it. It takes me less than 1/2 an hour to edit a four hour show.
