There honestly may not have even been a Weekly Top 40 the weekend of Jan 1/2, 2005. Our affiliate played regular music for two weekends before Dees came back on the weekend of Jan 15/16. And as for the original point - yes - the Top 100 of 2005 was awful and was (I believe) made entirely of recycled generic voicetracks The local affiliate in my area (Sioux Falls, SD) did play a regular WT40 on January 1st and 8th of 2005. They did drop Rick Dees after the 08/06/2005 show and switched to Billy Bush. After less than a year, they dropped Billy Bush and switched to AT40 with Ryan Seacrest. They dropped AT40 after less than 2 years and went with a local Top 40 since then.

KZOY is airing 01/11/86 this morning. The sure shot is "Sara" by Starship. This show last aired last year.

This week's shows:
January 11, 1986 January 11, 1992 January 12, 2008 (Rick said "the first countdown of 2008". Should it be January 5 or was that date part of the year-end special?)

If it's first regular countdown, then it is Jan 12, 2008. Jan 5, 2008 is actually #1 Hits of Past 4 Years special show

The 1992 show last aired in 2015 and Richard Marx is the sub host. 2008 is new to retro-Dees.

The 90s that aired in Jan 2015: 1/3/15 - Jan 2, 1993 - Top 92 of 1992 part II 1/10/15 - Jan 8, 1994 1/17/15 - Jan 21, 1995 1/24/15 - Jan 27, 1996 1/31/15 - Feb 1, 1997 I think Jan 11, 1992 is new to me

I mis-read my file entry. Richard Marx is not the sub host.

The show for 01/12/2008 is the next weekly show following the 12/15/2007 show that was offered 4 weeks ago. Rick played 2 weeks of year-end shows and a special in between but no WT40 charts.

Yep, that was the main cause of the error. I shouldn't be in such a hurry to make a post at 6am local time.

The 1992 show is a mess, especially the Top 20. At first I thought I was going insane when I heard “Tell Me What You Want Me To Do” twice except that wasn’t the only song played twice. Songs by Shanice, The Party, Marky Mark, Boyz II Men and Rod Stewart were played twice. What a disappointment. I was looking forward to hearing Prince and George Michael.

A bit of an eerie comment at the end saying that Michael Jackson's contract would end in 2016. Sadly, he didn't make it that long - he died in 2009.

Yeah I listened to the show today. The first two hours seemed to be from 1/11/92 and then the third hour was either from 1/18 or 1/25. So some songs got repeated. Unfortunate because this was turning out to be an excellent show. I think they went back to 1/11/92 for the final hour as Michael Jackson was #1. And I was disappointed I didn't get to hear "Home Sweet Home" by Motley Crue.

Jan 11, 1992 from SS to #22, #10-#1. I think third hour #21 to #11 was from Jan 18, 1992 which was only last aired 2013.. I still wish they could try to fix the segment back to Jan 11, 1992

I still wish they could try to fix the segment back to Jan 11, 1992 As we know, “I Love Your Smile” by Shanice was played twice. Once at #22 (I believe) and again at #11 (from 1/18/92) ”Tell Me What You Want Me To Do” by Tevin Campbell was played at #26 (the correct position from 1/11/92) and again at #18 (from 1/18) ”Wildside” by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch first at #14 (I think, sorry I’m doing this from memory from 1/18) and again at at the correct position at #7 (1/11) “Broken Arrow” by Rod Stewart at #15 (I think, 1/18) and then at the correct position of #9 “In My Dreams” by Party at #24 and again at #19 (I think 1/18) “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday” by Boyz II Men at #12 (1/18) and #4 (correct position) Songs we should’ve heard: ”When A Man Loves A Woman” by Michael Bolton (#21) ”Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” by Elton John and George Michael (#11) ”Home Sweet Home” by Motley Crüe (#15) “Diamonds And Pearls” by Prince (#18) So you’re right kani. It’s obviously a different show from#21-#11 and after that it goes back to the correct show. I apologize in my original post for being a little over dramatic. The show was actually pretty good until #22.
