Casey has an explanation for that chart movement on the 11/30/74 show. What is odd is that it does not appear that AT40 ever played the flip side, "Freewheelin'".

7 songs moving up at least 10 notches on the 2/27/71 top 40 airing this week has to be at least close to the most if not the most for the Casey Kasem era.

Which is bad because Free Wheelin was a great instrumental!

The biggest mover on this week's Premiere 70s AT40 (3/6/76), Melissa Manchester's "Just You and I", jumped 40-30 that week but topped out at #27.

The biggest mover on this week's 80s show did not make the top 10..Eat It was up 18 to #18 but stalled out at #12. When you halve your position (36 to 18) like that and fail to make the top 10, that is significant. But it is a novelty so anything goes with those songs.

dukedeb, I think because it was a novelty record, it was initially well received but the "novelty" wore off quickly, so at first debuted high, jumped initially, but petered out quickly, and I'll bet it dropped quickly as well.

I am not 100 % sure, but I think Emergency by Kool & The Gang was a track with a great climbing the second week in the AT40 and then no more. And it is not bad at all for being one of the latest single from that album, with big singles of one word title tracks.

This week's 70s show featured 2 songs that not only made big moves and failed to hit the top 10 but climbed only one more notch. The biggest mover was "Give Ireland back to the Irish" up 15 notches to #22 but only peaked at 21 and Honeycone's "The Day I Found Myself" was up 14 notches to #24 but only peaked at 23.

It did move 10 notches that week (and tied with "Talk to Me"), but it wasn't biggest mover - that was "That's What Friends Are For", up one notch more. "Emergency" did hold at 21 the following week enroute to its peak at #18 on the last week of the year.

On this weekend's 6/20/81 show, two songs move up 11 notches each. One of those is "Gemini Dream" by The Moody Blues (37-26), which peaked at #12.

First-time poster. On Nov. 30, 1974, Shirley Brown's "Woman to Woman" moved from #37 to #26. The following week it peaked at #22.

Honesty by Billy Joel moved from #37 to #26 on May 19, 1979. Three weeks later it dropped out of the Top 40 after peaking at #24.

Strange movement by a song that I thought for sure was a staple song by Barry Manilow. "Even Now" debuted at 28, then to 22, then to 18, held at 18, and then fell off the chart. Wow, I thought this song was one of his most popular songs. I wonder what happened. Hard to believe that it lost popularity that quickly. It's a good song, and I'm not a Manilow fan by any means.
