This week it’s April 28, 1979 Just listened to the whole thing on a delivery run. All of the original bumpers were left in, as well as the closing theme music to each of the first three hours. But then, as soon as Casey was done saying, "...and keep your radio tuned right where it is," they faded it out.

Now let’s go back to this week in 1975 - Brian May. May 3, 1975 The fact that SXM is airing 5/3/75 might suggest why Premiere is airing the show they're airing this week. Especially if SXM was given first choice, but I have no knowledge of how the selection process and coordination of shows between the two networks works.

The fact that SXM is airing 5/3/75 might suggest why Premiere is airing the show they're airing this week. Especially if SXM was given first choice, but I have no knowledge of how the selection process and coordination of shows between the two networks works. Personally, I'd say there's zero coordination... My guess is that there is some--at least more than there used to be, which did appear to be zero until about five or six years ago. There once was a time that SXM and Premiere would end up playing the same show in either the same weekend. Or one would play a show one weekend, and the other would play the same show the following weekend (usually it was Premiere first, followed by SXM). That doesn't seem to happen anymore, which suggests that the two do compare schedules to avoid duplicating shows. I don't have any inside intel on this--just a guess from observing which shows get played each week.

Don't look into it that much. Keep in mind that when the replays started a decade plus ago, not all of the shows were remastered and ready for reair, so both Premiere and SXM didn't have the full library to choose from. Now, essentially they do.

They may compare, the Big 80’s on 8 countdown they do is often the same week that AT40 the 80’s is airing.

As a satellite radio listener since 2003, I agree that in the last 5 or 6 years SXM seems to try to avoid duplicating which countdown is being played by Premiere. Prior to that there didn't seem to be any coordinating of the charts being offered. What I really enjoy is when the two are off by a week and you can compare the chart progress of certain songs.

This is the second 1976 show Sirius XM has played since Premiere last featured that year. And neither service has aired 1978 since March.

Where else but AT40 could you hear the tear jerker, I.O.U. by Jimmy Dean. The single sold a million copies, even though it only spent 4 weeks on the Hot 100. Amazing.
Two more great 'lost' hits on this week's show--Union Man by The Cate Brothers and Love Really Hurts Without You by Billy Ocean. Both of them should have charted higher, IMHO.
