I was just wondering who out there amongst us has received recognition on a Casey show by way of a LDD or QL, or any other method.
For ages, I always wanted to write Casey a LDD. But I never had a real reason and never wanted to write a dedication just to have Casey read my name on the air.
Then, after being on-air on a Hot AC station for nearly two years I ended up on Country. A question lingered through my mind as to what songs had ever been # 1 on both the Pop and Country charts. I knew I could look it up online, but I wanted to see if I could get it answered from the professional. I e-mailed the question in, and sure enough, Casey read my QL on the February 9/10, 2008 edition of AT20 & AT10. While it wasn't the last QL, I don't remember more than a few more after that.

Casey and his son Mike each read a LDD for me: 1 in 2004 and a follow-up in 2008.
Thanks Casey and Mike! :-)

Casey read to LDD's For me. One to my X girlfriend well rather Stevie Street was guest hosting that week back in November 1998. But probably my most memorable Casey moment was the week of July 10-11 2004. Casey read me LDD of "A Song For Mama" by Boyz II Men to my mom. my mom always say she could hear Casey's tears when listening to him read the letter. Of all the moments in my life of 35+ years this has to be in the top 3. that Boyz Ii men song is very special to my mom and me and to hear Casey read me letter to the mom I love so much brought me to tears something I'll never forget and I bet my mom won't either.

I had my LDD read on the weekend of June 7-8, 2008, which was dedicated to my grandmother who passed away in late March. It was surreal to hear it on the air. The song I requested was "You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins.

Casey answered 2 QL for me:
The first came on on August 3 CT40 show back in 1991 and was about "Which group had the most #1s in the 80's?".
Coincidentally, the second one was replied by Casey on AT10 on August 3, 2008 show and this time the answer was tied with the countdown song and it spelt "What are the top selling digital downloads?".
Thanks a lot for Your answers, Casey, and these unforgettable moments.

I thank Casey & Mike for reading my LDD in April 2009. I asked for "permission" to name my son/daughter after Casey. My son is named Casey Shatzer and my family loves the name. I can't imaging growing up without Casey's radio programs - he made me interested in current music, even though it's not my favorite. I'm heading back to alt-radio after AT20 leaves the airwaves.
So maybe Mike Kasem can take over Out of Order from Jed the Fish on Westwood One. Yeah - that's a stretch...No offense Mr. The Fish...

I just heard the final LDD "Thank You for Being a Friend" and all the words ring true. Thanks Adam in MA for writing the LDD we all wish we wrote! I've been featured on 4 LDD since 2006...two written by me and two by my father. The first was an LDD to my Dad Feburary 5/6 2006 "Stuck With You" by Huey Lewis & The News. The second was my Dad's LDD celebrating his 65th Birthday on July 28/29 2007 "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" by Billy Joel. The third was my LDD read January 18/19 2008 to celebrate the legacy of Dan Fogelberg "Leader of the Band", and the 4th and final LDD was written by my Dad in memory of his mother (my grandmother)and read July 26/27 2008 "Thank You" by Dido. Thank you Casey Kasem for indeed being a friend.

No need to add anything, you really expressed it in an excellent way. Thanks for that.

I sent one letter for a LDD to Casey back in the late 70's. I requested "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" by the Hollies for a fraternity brother that had become a good friend during my 1st year at college. Unfortunately, it was never read on air.

Is the audio of just that final LDD posted somewhere? I expect I'll eventually dig up the whole show, but...
