Dan Fogelberg (56) singer and songwriter whose hits helped to define the soft-rock era. Fogelberg broke into the music industry in the early '70s and became known for his angelic vocals and lyrics that celebrated beauty and romance. He hit his commercial and creative peak in 1981 with the album The Innocent Age, which yielded three top-10 singles: "Hard to Say," "Same Old Lang Syne," and "Leader of the Band," the last a tribute to his father, a bandleader. Fogelberg died of prostate cancer in Maine on December 16, 2007.

Casey played "Same Old Lang Syne" on AT20 this week in Dan Fogelberg's memory.
Did it get played on AT10 as well?

Casey played "Same Old Lang Syne" on AT20 this week in Dan Fogelberg's memory. I was glad to hear this. I thought for sure they'd avoid playing a song so as not to upset picky program directors. As I recall, they didn't play a song when Luther Vandross passed, and some of his songs are perfectly fine for HotAC.

If you take a look at the official Premiere website you'll find out that "Radio pays tribute to Dan Fogelberg by doubling airplay... it increased by more than 100 per cent...", so when you take into consideration that the airplay and number of spins provide the basis for decision-making of playing the songs from the past on the shows, then this might have been the reason why no song was played when Luther passed away, whereas Dan's hit aired when Casey payed tribute to him.

As a follow up, this week the Long Distance Dedication I wrote as a tribute to Dan Fogelberg is read by Casey Kasem on AT10 and AT20. "Leader of the Band" is played on both AC and Hot AC programs. Hope everybody enjoys listening to my LDD.
