Anyone watch Drew's "first" show today? What did you think? I did get to see it as I worked from home this morning. I have to say that it wasn't as bad as I thought. Drew definitely brings a slightly different personality to the show than Bob did, but they basically left the show format unchanged, and Drew does a by-and-large good job. Drew needs to work on his throws to the announcer for a new contestant...it seemed like he was saying the same thing every time. And while I read an interview with Drew yesterday that said that leaving in the "Remember to have your pets spayed or neutered" at the end is supposed to be a tribute to Bob, it's got to go. That was BOB's tagline, and hearing Drew or anyone else say it just doesn't sound right. The only thing that for me would have been worse would be hearing Ryan Seacrest remind us all to "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars." Ouch. My ears hurt even thinking about that!

While I cannot confirm this, I believe Barker was okay with Carey carrying the signature "Help control the pet population . . ." at the end of each show. I think it was Barker's late mother and late wife who were animal rights activists and Barker wanted to honor them.
Because of the message the signature offers, I believe it should be kept! I think many people are okay with this! There is no dishonor intended.
However, Casey's signature is his own, and no one else's!

If you missed the first Price is Right, you can watch the replay at www.cbs.com Go to Daytime the The Price is Right. Once you arrived at the Price is Right portion of the CBS website, there is a link to watch the first show. However, you might have to watch before 6 Pm Eastern/3pm Pacific. CBS will put the daytime broadcast airing on its website that same day after 6 pm EDT. Anyways, I Tivo'd the first show. The format hasn't changed. The theme music and Come on Down music is basically the same with minor pitch/beat changes. The new car, items up for bids music, etc. did not change. The set had changes, but the set has changed through the Bob Barker years. Drew sometimes rushes his explanations. However, give it time. I'm sure he will adjust and we will get used to it. We know it won't be Bob. However, Drew will be fine on the Price is Right. At least it didn't drastically changed. If Ryan took over, he would probably eliminated one pricing game to give us the latest hollywood gosip. We don't need to hear the latest hollwood gosip on the Price is Right.

Has anybody besides me been watching the Price is Right Million Dollar Spectacular shows on Friday nights on CBS? I've been enjoying them. Looking at the TV viewer ratings, the Price is Right has been in the top 20 most viewed for the last 2 weeks. Thus, it appears there will be a Price is Right after Bob Barker.

Missed the first one, and haven't watched the one from this past Friday yet (it's still waiting for me in my DVR), but I did see the second and third shows of this go-around for MDS and yes, I agree...they've been quite good. I've watched quite a few editions of TPIR with Drew, and he does a good job.

Today, The Price is Right DVD set was officially released. It comes on a 4 DVD set. The are 26 episodes. There are 4 early shows from the Bill Cullen years.
Most of the shows are from the years 1972 to 1975. The first show from September 4, 1972 that aired on CBS is not on the DVD set. This is due to the first prize given away was a fur coat. However, the 2nd, 3rd the 5th show of the 1st week are available. Its a much younger Bob Barker.
Also included is the first show when the Price is Right expanded from 1/2 hour to the full hour. The big wheel is introduced.
Finally, you have the final 5 shows that Bob Barker hosted in June 2007. Its a treat for all the Price is Right fans. Since CBS won't allow Game Show Network to air Price is Right, here is your chance to see the classic episodes.
Sorry, the Yolanda Bowsley episode with her historical 'Come On Down' moment is not on this DVD set.
I bought my copy at BEST BUY today.
I love the classic cars they gave away. The prices were around $3,000 to the $5,000 range!

Sorry, the Yolanda Bowsley episode with her historical 'Come On Down' moment is not on this DVD set. I always loved Bob's description of that moment: "She came on down, and they came on out."
