Can anyone recommend a "FREE" editing software?

I'd like to take a couple of my countdown shows an edit out the commercials. Is there a free downloadable software/freeware/shareware program that I could use to edit in this nature?

I edit sound files with Audacity:

I use Wave Pad v 3.05. It is the Unlicensed Basic free version.

Another late recommendation:

I do all my WAV editing in Audacity (see above), but
if the shows are already in mp3 format,
I use mp3directcut (mpesch3.de1.cc/).

This free software allows editing mp3-files without the need for
re-encoding or indexing, so there's no quality lost at all
and it's lightning fast, too.
