Sorry for the confusion. I thought you meant the top of hour sweep. I *thought* (though now I'm not sure) that on an AT10 show in March, I heard the "Countin' Down The Hits With Casey Kasem" top of hour sweep. But, I'm not sure.
To answer your other questions, yes, there was an AT10 open (it was used a few times) and yes, there was an AT10 close (which was used a few times as well). Both ceased not that long after AT10 started.
Have you noticed the return of some of the old AT20/AC jingles on AT10 in the past month or so?

I haven't been able to hear AT10 for several weeks now. One would think Saturday's 9am-Noon would be as convienient to listen to as Sunday's 9am-Noon, but it's not at all. I'm almost glad now back when AT40 used to be on Saturday mornings it was over at 10...I never realized how much stuff I actually do on Saturday late-morning.
I'll (hopefully) be able to catch the show this weekend, at least for a TOH-ID and find out.

I also love the end of hour tune (with a very disco feel) used from around 1979 into the early 80's. I was playing one of my AT40 CD's from 1981 and when that jingle started playing, my sister started humming along with it...and she hadn't heard it in over 20 years! Talk about leaving an impression!

Having heard all of the various AT40 themes used during the original Casey Kasem era (1970-1988) thanks to XM's rebroadcasts, it's hard for me to pick any one that I like better than the others, so I'll rank my top three in different categories (opening theme, commercial intro/outro jingles, closing hour theme, opening hour theme and closing theme)
Opening theme 1. The famous "Shuckatoom" song so closely linked with AT40, and as much of a trademark for the show as those Long Distance Dedications and Casey's "Keep your feet in/on the ground...." sign-off. 2. The original, synth-driven theme music heard during the first five years of AT40. It has a fun, high-energy sound to it. 3. The even higher-energy brassy-synth opening theme introduced in spring 1987 (I believe) and would be the last one used during Casey's original AT40 run.
Commericial Break Intro/Outro Jingles 1. The Fall 1978 versions (XM has played quite a few of the AT40 shows with these jingles, and it's a pity that this series of jingles did not last that long, not even a year if I'm not mistaken, perhaps someone out there can fill me in on this) 2. The jingles from early 1978 (again, I don't know when this series of jingles started, but these to me display a sense of musical diversity that makes them fun to listen to). 3. The jingle series in use when I started listening to AT40 on June 15, 1980 that lasted until spring 1982 (I believe). I think these jingles might date back to the same 9/22/1979 show when "Shuckatoom" briefly disappeared in favor of the new "Coast-To-Coast Fanfare." Or did this new series debut during the 10/20/1979 when "Shuckatoom" was resurrected for the opening sequence while "Coast-To-Coast Fanfare" played over the hour-openings and show closing? Anyway, they were good jingles too.
Hour-Closing Music Tough call here!!! I liked the 1984-87 music with it's funky pop-rock feel, but I also enjoyed the much-too-short-lived 1982 hour-closing theme (although it survived a few more years as an hour-opening theme). The Fall 1978 hour-closing theme is also quite catchy and enjoyable, as are both mixes of the 1970 AT40 theme.
Hour-Opening Music 1. Hour-opening from spring (?) 1982 to early 1984. "Shuckatoom" receives honorable mention here.
Show-closing theme 1. Full-length "Shuckatoom" theme from mid-70s to Fall 1979. Good instrumental work here. 2. Original 1979 version of "Coast-to-Coast Fanfare" (although I did not care at all for the 1982 remix with that sort-of-jazzy solo inserted in the middle. It sounded almost hilariously out of place compared to the rest of the song. AT40, what WERE you thinking??? What irks me today about this jazzed-up 1982 "CTC Fanfare" is that it ran for nearly 2 years, while those Fall 1978 AT40 bumper jingles barely lasted a full year (unless I'm mistaken). Anyway, I did enjoy this tune in its original, non-jazzed-up rendition. Honorable mention to the original 1970 AT40 theme in both original and remixed form and to the 1987 closing music.

Hour-Closing Music Tough call here!!! I liked the 1984-87 music with it's funky pop-rock feel, I think I know the one you're thinking of, and it was one of my all-time favorites. I'm assuming this is the one that has kind of a catchy beat, with the "Casey's Coast to Coast" jingle played on electric guitar, with this jingle alternating back and forth between two different keys.

1984-87 was my favorite set of commercial intro/outros. I think they were done by Jam Creative Productions, and several Top 40 stations (including Q105 here in Tampa) used a similar jingle package around that period. Q105 (now an oldies station) has been using some of these jingles again since last summer, they sound awesome. Check out a sample here (the "AT40" style jingles run from around :53 to 1:09): tampabayradiohistory.com/stations/FM_104-7/Q105/audio/Q105_JingleMix.mp3

"1982-1983 - These jingles seem to recall a bygone era." True. They sound like the Carpenters.

There's another similar thread out there, which I've commented on in the past. My favorite is the entire 1984 jingle package, although I like the 1985 opening jingle a little better than the 1984 "spacey" open, though not by much. And Shuckatoom runs a very close second.
My least favorite? The 1992-1995 jingles. I just associate those too much with the show's demise...and just wasn't crazy about the sound overall.

Good find! This guy's missing a few examples, but he gives us the basic idea. By the way, my favorite version of the theme is Dark Disco.

1984 theme and its jingles. The ones from 1989-1991 are good too.
