"Tired of Toein' the Line" by Rocky Burnette, charted in late spring 1980. Also a huge fan of "Smoke from a Distant Fire", which was cited earlier in this thread. Finally, a rarely replayed instrumental from early 1972, "Joy" by Apollo 100.

While it's well outside the period of my old-fart prime AT40 listening, my favorite qualifying song is Chains by Tina Arena (#38 Hot 100, #17 Mainstream Top 40). (In the US, she's a one-hit wonder. She's had a large number of hits in both her native Australia in English -- where she's been a well-known singer since she first appeared on TV at age 8 -- and in her adopted France, in both English and French.)

Pac-Man fever, and, the original version of 'Rock n roll dreams come thru' by Jim Steinman on piano, with Rory Dodd singing it. That's "Rock And Roll Dreams Come Through". Geez Dave! Be more prim & proper like the rest of us!

I played Joy Wednesday night at Trivia. (I host and there's songs throughout, mostly to give clues towards a right answer or a wrong one)

"Chains" had a solid run in '96. Made it to 12 on CT 40. Great song.

One of my all time favorite one hit wonders is "Tell Me" by Groove Theory. It went 20/20 in 1995 and 1996: peaked at 20, but stayed on CT 40 for 20 weeks. One of the smoothest pop songs ever.

trekkielo, I guess you amended your reply, 'cause you did take off 'Feels so good'.

I saw this video the other day and I for some reason always liked this song.
"They Don't Know" by Tracey Ullman
One-hit wonder over here but she had more charted hits in the U.K.

Undercover Angel- Alan O'Day Come and Get Your Love- Redbone Redbone do not belong on this list. They had a hit big enough to lead off the year end survey from 1972, "Witch Queen of New Orleans". In fact, I will make a little prediction that it will be included on the next show from that year.
