Don't think we haven't noticed that you have bent over backwards to exclude Arthur Brown! There's 1968 in a nutshell - Bobby Goldsboro's singing angels replaced by Arthur Brown and his thing.

And in my faux nation of Fantastan, people prefer their cakes dry, though they're cool with sweet green icing.

Reverse echo preview one and two grooves - throughout. And why was a 12-year-old boy buying Little Green Apples in the first place? I can't fathom what I heard in it that made me feel I needed to own it. I should have been buying Sunshine Of Your Love. Or God forbid, a Cream LP. But there's a future Kasem fan for you, I guess.

That Max Frost single is great. I was just listening to it yesterday on a Cash Box Countdown. It's amazing to hear these songs in such high quality. One thing I notice is the guitar work by Dennis Coffey and others at Motown. I never really noticed the guitars on those hits back then on AM radio. Of course the bass was paramount and cut through everything. Kids these days don't know what they missed. And by "these days" I mean kids born in 1960 or later.

Well, I applaud doofus67 for doing so. I personally would bend backwards, forwards, over, under, sideways, down to exclude that hideous abomination of a song! It's one thing for a song to be bad; quit another for a song to grab you by the jugular and scare you sh**less within the first three seconds! I'm a little young to remember the fall of 1968, but, in spite of many good Top 40 hits in those autumn months, I would be scared to death to listen to the radio for fear of that musical nightmare popping up at any time.

You're a man after my own heart. I love all three songs, but especially the first one. "Run To Me" by the Montanas ranks among my very favorite pop hits of all time! I bought a Montanas greatest hits CD years ago, mainly for their minor hit "You've Got To Be Loved", and discovered this gem, as well as several other great songs. You might be able to find a used copy of it on Amazon, but I bet it will cost a pretty penny.

Just imagine listening to the radio late at night, about to drift off to sleep, school the next day, and THAT one comes on for the first time! Didn't happen to me but it could have - and I'm sure it happened to some kids. We really didn't need more trauma at this point that year.
