From the counting wrong department (and can't believe I just thought of this one): "Boy In The Box" by Corey Heart. Throughout the chorus Corey can get from one to four just fine. However he seems always wants the next number to be six, then five.

How about Britney Spears and "3"? She counted up to 3 in late 09/10...massive hit for her.

Nobody even mentioned Face to Face's only top 40 entry of "10-9-8".

Nobody even mentioned Face to Face's only top 40 entry of "10-9-8". Mentioned in the first post near the beginning.

Listening to the 10/31/81 show and heard one that somehow I had never heard before: At the end of Pat Benatar's, "Promises In The Dark", her future husband Neil Giraldo calls off quietly, "1,2,3,4" before hitting the guitar at the end of the song.

Can't believe I didn't think of it earlier:
Michael Sembello's November 5, 1983 #34 pop hit "Automatic Man."
"He's the Automatic Man 2! 3! 4! 5! 6! 7! 8!"

Earlier this year there was “10 Things I Hate About You” by Leah Kate which counted down those things from #10 to #1.

It never charted, for obvious lyrical reasons, and listeners do their own counting, but this thread brings to mind this number-titled song. Warning, some of the lyrics are not G-rated: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwUotTbF2aw

This is stretching it a bit, but "The Old Me" by Ria Mae, which is currently on Canadian AT40, has "1-2-3" in the chorus.

Pink's "Funhouse" has the line "9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, fun."
Also, you hear kids counting from 1 to 3 in "Build A B!tch" by Bella Poarch.
