I mean, short of Andy Gibb in early 79 I am pretty sure the wrong song has never been played! A few others. The playing of the 'B' sides of 'I Ain't Got time Anymore" (twice), "Angel", "The Proud One", and "Got To Give It Up" (multiple times) come to mind. Casey also played the B side by accident of the first Marvin Gaye/Diana Ross top 40 duet and the B side of Bad Company's "Good Lovin' Gone Bad".

Yes, there were very few errors over those 18 years. iHeart on the other hand....OMG....they're still airing Daryl Hall talking about the creation of the single "Private Eyes" when he's obviously - OBVIOUSLY - talking about I Can't Go For That.
It seems like those segments that are played over and over and over again with Elton John, Rod Stewart, Carlos Santana and Daryl Hall are taken from recording sessions in which they were endorsing Pro Tools. Rod Stewart mentions Pro Tools specifically and I think Elton John mentions Proto or something like that.
Oh well, you get what you pay for, as they say. And the only "payment" with those shows is having to sit through those promos.

Most of these have been corrected in the versions that Premiere plays now. Not sure about "Got to Give It Up"; while I can understand one off mistakes, it's somewhat hard to believe that it took four or five weeks for AT40 to figure out which was the correct hit side. Another one that I did not know about was just heard on this week's Sirius-XM 1975 show: The 'B' side of Bad Company's "Good Lovin' Gone Bad", titled "Whiskey Bottle", was played. Was listening while perusing this board and sauddenly realized that the song playing was definitely NOT "Good Lovin' Gone Bad". Checked Pete's book for the title. Also funny that this particular show is the one in which Casey 'corrects' his previous week's mistake about Ray Stevens' #1 songs with ANOTHER mistake about the same subject! Yes, Ya gotta love correcting one mistake with anothour (oops!). It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from a book--what is a spelling error in a C minus term paper.

If Premiere plays AT40: The 70's 5/31/1975 again in a year or two, maybe the correct A side of "Good Lovin' Gone Bad" could be put in and the B side "Whiskey Bottle" mistake could be an AT40 OPTIONAL EXTRA - Just like Premiere did in 2019 with "Angel" by Rod Stewart in the correct position and the "Lost Paragoys" mistake as an OPTIONAL EXTRA (Maybe if 12/19/1970 gets played on AT40: The 70's later this year the correct #39 song of "Love The One You With" by Stephen Stills will be put in and the wrong #39 song of "So Close" by Jake Holmes can be used as an OPTIONAL EXTRA).

My personal preference is to hear the shows as they originally ran, mistakes and all. Fixing errors after the fact is too much like George Lucas retroactively changing things in the original 'Star Wars' movies.

Why not run the shows as produced and make the 'correct' songs as the optional extras--give Larry Morgan something to talk about and maybe more stations would air the songs.

I'm with mga707 all the way on this - hearing the shows as they originally ran, including mistakes. If I'd change anything, and that's a big if, it'd be what Ken Martin is already doing, supersizing the later 3-hour shows. But otherwise, why change it? Aren't we to accept each other as we are, including imperfections (which we all have)? djjoe1960, love your idea too!
