The Clash #23 Train in Vain (1980) #8 Rock the Casbah (1983) The Clash are an interesting case--those were their only two songs to reach the 40, but they had a few other memorable songs that did not hit the top 40. Most notable is of course, "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" (hit the Hot 100 twice, reaching #45 and #50), and "London Calling" would be another that most would be familiar with. Sugarloaf-"Green Eyed Lady" (1970) & "Don't Call Us,We'll Call You" (1975). Great call with Sugarloaf--definitely fits the bill. Two really good songs, but never had another top 40 hit. Murray Head-"Superstar" (1971) & "One Night In Bangkok" (1985). Great call with Murray Head too. Among the more intriguing two-hit wonders in that both of his hits were quirky songs from musicals, and they hit 14 years apart from each other. Wondering if that's a record for a two-hit wonder as far as length of time between hits?

What about Donna Fargo--Happiest Girl in the Whole USA (#11) and Funny Face (#5). Or--Maria Muldaur--Midnight At The Oasis (#6) and I'm A Woman (#12). As someone who grew up 45 minutes from Mount Airy, NC, and someone who now lives an hour of so away from Mount Airy, any time we can give Donna love I am all for it! For a town of 10,000 people Mount Airy has its share of notable, and noteworthy, pop culture stars. From Andy Griffith to Chang and Eng Bunker, Mount Airy has had its share of celebrities for sure!

Here's one for debate: how about Aussie band Real Life? They had three hits, but one was practically the same song that hit twice, albeit a slightly different mix:
"Send Me an Angel" (1983) "Catch Me I'm Falling" (1984) "Send Me an Angel '89" (1989)
Could be considered a two-hit wonder?

Alright, y'all fooled me.
Donna Lewis hit #2 with ILYAF, #41 with WL and #45 with ATB. So, she either doesn't qualify because she's a true ONE hit wonder, or she doesn't qualify because she's a THREE hit wonder, right? Yet, you still wanna see where she'd land, right?
3281 Donna Lewis only counting I Love You Always Forever 3864 Donna Lewis counting ILYAF and Without Love 4176 Donna Lewis counting ILYAF and At The Beginning 4759 Donna Lewis counting ILYAF, WL and ATB
I will continue to slowly add to this list ... honest.

Dearest matt,
Did the 1989 REMIX of Send Me An Angel have the same label number as the original 1983 release?

Wondering if that's a record for a two-hit wonder as far as length of time between hits? We answered this a long time ago and I think I figured out that from the AT era (1970 - ) Murray Head not only would hold the record for longest time between his two only hits, he would hold the record for any artist since 1970 for time between their first and second hit. Enya was 12 years or so, Daft Punk was 12 years or so, and Vonda Shephard was 11 years or so. Aaron Neville was 20 + years, however "Tell It Like It Is" was a hit before AT 40.

Dearest matt, Did the 1989 REMIX of Send Me An Angel have the same label number as the original 1983 release? It shouldn't have. The song was different, albeit slightly. Different video, different B-Side, etc.

Thank you! As far as Donna Lewis, or any song after the Soundscan era, it might be difficult. Ie, from a Radio and Record stand point, Donna Lewis would be a huge two-hit wonder. As you mentioned, Billboard makes it look very different. For sake of compilation, it might just be easier to do acts pre- 11/30/91. It is a tough question because from an AT 40/CT 40 perspective acts like Donna Lewis and Chumbawumba would be huge on this list. However because of different sources for the shows during various eras it might be too difficult to truly figure out.

While we are talking about two hit wonders, my favorite two hit wonder of all time is Kevin Paige from 1989/90. And while I am pretty sure he wouldn't fit into the category of "Weakest Two Hit Wonder Of All Time" (his hits peaked at #18 and #29), any of you know of an act that barely made the top 40 with their two hits?
