Anyone on here remember the 1980s/early 1990s syndicated radio program "Solid Gold Country"?
This was that program that was distributed to radio stations five days a week, one hour each day by the old Unistar Radio Networks (some called it the "old" United Stations Radio Network) and was hosted by veteran jockey Mike Fitzgerald. Each show had a specific theme each day. (For instance, a set of shows in 1987 might include salutes to Texas singers, Kenny Rogers, this week in 1977, a songwriter salute to Kris Kristofferson and records certified gold during the current month.) The show began as a three-hour weekly series in July 1983, then expanded to a daily show in early 1985; although most affiliates were daily – e.g., the show would air at 1 p.m. each weekday, Monday through Friday – some affiliates apparently edited their 5-LP set into a five-hour-long program (as for weekend airing); that's the setup for the show until the final program aired sometime in the fall of 1993.
Anyway, I'm on the hunt for some old LPs/CDs of those radio shows from the era, and there's one title (or two-part series, I can't remember) that I'm specifically looking for. It would have been a show aired in either 1990 or 1991 and was about Rhino Records' then-new series of Billboard Top Country Hits series, which covered the years 1959 through 1968.
I am sure existing copies of the show, if they were kept, are scarce, but what can someone do to help me track down possible existing copies of that program?
There are certainly other shows from "Solid Gold Country" I'm interested in, but
Thanks!
