On the heels of Les Emmerson's passing, and my story about seeing the Five Man Electrical Band open for Rare Earth, I have learned that Gil Bridges, Rare Earth's saxophonist, flautist, and vocalist passed away December 8 at the age of 80.
The co-founder was the last original member of Rare Earth remaining with the band. His association dates back to 1960 when they were known as the Sunliners.
Like Les Emmerson, Gil also died from COVID-19 complications.
