John Miles (1949-2021) John Miles, one of the most serious and brightest of rock musicians passed away on December 5, after a short but serious illness; another day that Music slowly died. His wife of 50 years posted on his official Facebook page: “You were our first love and will be our last” echoing his anthemic “Music” that unfortunately stuck at #88 on the Hot 100. His biggest success this side of the Atlantic was “Slow Down”, produced by Rupert Holmes. His “Music” was also produced by another well-known musician “Alan Parsons” with extended musical interludes. But Miles’ collaboration with Alan Parsons didn’t end there, since he was an occasional guest vocalist on his Project, e.g. on “(The System of) Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether”. RIP. and thanks for the following gem that made the spring of 1976 musically such a memorable time. Tribute Music-John Miles

May John Miles rest in peace. "This is Casey Kasem in Hollywood on American Top 40, and you know, 2 years ago a record producer from London named Alan Parsons went to 20th Century Fox Records in Los Angeles with an unusual idea, he wanted to set the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe to rock music, well the record company gave him the go ahead and The Alan Parsons Project was born, what followed was an album of songs based on the works of Poe called, Tales of Mystery and Imagination, this week, the first single from that album by British pop singer John Miles debuts at #39, here's The Alan Parsons Project with, Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether..." - Casey Kasem's American Top 40 from September 11th, 1976
