Sad news. But I guess for him we won't need to wait for a particular year/month for them to be able to find a suitable AT40 tribute extra.

Sadly, today was his last Ruby Tuesday. R.I.P. Mr. Watts. The Stones won't be the same without you.

My Mom was a big Beatles fan, but told me that she respected The Rolling Stones for staying together as long as they have! May Charlie Watts rest in peace.

It's funny... I don't have a favorite member of The Rolling Stones but I always liked Charlie. Maybe because his drumming was like a human metronome (did he ever unintentionally speed up or slow down in any of their hits?!), but maybe because he was usually the best dressed in the group. When I first saw the video for "Start Me Up", I thought it was cool that Charlie was in a double-breasted suit and nice shirt while playing drums. Mick looked like he was auditioning for an 80s exercise video, Keith looked like he was ready to go to a bar, Ronnie looked like he was coming home from the bar, poor Bill was playing bass by himself off to the side... and then there was the somewhat too cool for the room but still looking so smooth and sophisticated Charlie. Some drummers were fun to watch because they got into drumming... he was fun to watch because he was wanting to appear like he wasn't getting into it . It's amazing that The Rolling Stones stayed together for as long as they did!

The facial expressions and reactions by Charlie Watts are priceless, as he plays it just like a comic straight man, one reason why I've always liked that music video for Start Me Up - The Rolling Stones
